I think it's a stretch to call this a conclusive evidence that we'll see the car first at Detroit and not LA.

And the comment about "starting in the new year" simply refers to the fact that the car will be released in 2008.

I agree it's not conclusive, but it certainly seems to suggest as much.

Considering how big So. Cal. market is for BMW, it would be just stupid for them not to debut the 1 series. I look forward to checking out the 1 series at the LA show.
