It definitely reduced the range of my remote on my E90, I figure it will do the same on my 1. BUT, the benefits greatly outweigh this.
Tinting is hands down the best thing to do. The variables lie within the tinting itself 1) Get a reputable tint guy. Crappy tint will look crappy and will fade to purple within a year to two years and you have to pay to get it replaced. 2) Make sure they don't use oil to affix the tinting, or you get the rainbow reflection in the bright sun 3) Check your local state laws. Most that I have seen limit the front windows to 15% and rear to 10%. But that is pretty darn dark and at that level, you will have difficulty at night seeing out. 4) The MOST important thing is not the tint level, but the UV protection. You can get 28% tint with high UV reflection and it will protect your insides, reduce the heat from the sun, and darken out the inside a bit, but will not be so dark as to affect you heavily or reduce your remote key range too much. Definitely tint, but definitely tint correctly.

i don't like tinting for cosmetic reasons....think it looks dumb....
saying that, i DID get my windows tinted last summer.....the A/C in my car is very weak and i felt like a needed it.....i got the lightest tint, 35% I think. i don't like the way it looks very much, but it does help a little bit with the HOT HOT HOT florida sun!!!! in LA it gets hot too, if you feel like you need it, you should get it

As far as removing it, thats very easy. Any tint shop can remove it in a matter of minutes with no problem. |

I love my TINT and have had no real reduction in remote operation distance. Mine just triggered yesterday from probably 25 feet by accident. It does cut down on night time visability a little but well worth it!

tint
One of the great things I have noticed after tint job is more young ladies look the car over while I am in it.....They can't see that I am an old fart...lol

I'd love to do mine, except I'm worried these Irvine cops have a catch-a-tinter day since they're so bored. I was thinking 50% would be safe for me to not worry as much. I do love the 35% look though =X |

I like my car. I want to take care of it. I am not going to do anything to it that restricts my vision. Have you ever tried to back a tinted car out of a tight spot at night? Not much fun is it? JMHO

Used to have limousine tint on my brabus c 3 years ago. Not only is it a bitch to pull back, its hard to change lanes, and its annoying to be watching for cops 24/7 and having to pull your fronts down in the rain. Eventually, I got ticketed and had to remove the fronts. Then, I realized how much easier it was to drive and ironically had a sense of gratitude. But staggered tinting made the car look ugly =[.
