I guess I have some time to decide and this is THE car that could make me leave the 1M but I planned to keep this forever, not trade it in :
Congrats! I, too, am very attracted by the Cayman. Fortunately, I'm in no position to buy one!

Thank you and we will see, the more I think about it the more I just don't think I'm ready to part with the 1m and Im looking at the gt4 as having a 20k cheaper price when I trade the 1m in for it and give up all my equity towards the gt4 if it happens for it to be affordable. Without the 1m and my equity in it to trade I couldn't afford it at all either.

If you do trade in, let us know what they give you the 1M for before you trade it in. Congratulations if you do, if you enjoy the 1M, you definitely enjoy the GT4.

I can't read enough of the GT4, I know exactly how a 987.2 CS drives, and obviously the GT4 is on another level with that 3.8 and GT suspension etc. ultimate driving machine

FWIW, there are 4 Macans on lots for sale in the greater Seattle area right now.

Perhaps it is just my local market but I don't see it being a problem to get a Macan.

It is not a limited run, there is no artificial cap on the number they will produce. They simply are limiting the build time. What this really means is it will allow Porsche to prioritize what gets built by demand and profit margin, just like any other car.

In other words, if you want one get in line and you'll eventually get one they are going to build as many as they can sell.
I was told otherwise by my Porsche dealer. I am a repeat customer and they told me they can get me one but they said he prepared to pay a premium. It is going to be limited by production run timing, not actual numbers. It is the same thing.

nope. 2 year run and it's definitely limited.....just because you're in line doesn't mean you will get one.

BMW could have built its own GT4 (sort of) by putting the s65 in 1M in the first instance!

I've decided to pull the trigger and get one. Now it's time to hunt down an allocation/figure out if Porsche will accept the paint to sample color and lowly build specification I want. I just hope it doesn't go the way of the Viola Pearl Metallic GT3 RS 4.0 I wanted to order.

I'm glad they didn't 👍 love both engines but I prefer the n54 for the most part. 1M will never be a low hung mid engine car like a gt4, it's had a similar application of big brothers parts as the 1m but started from a better platform for a sports car. Still love the 1m everyday, the allure of a brand new car is pretty large vs a 1m as well

Congrats and it wasn't tough to get an allocation, just a deposit and they didn't seem concerned at my local dealer. Let me know if you don't find one, as much as I want to do this I can't have the 1m and a gt4 and I don't think I can part with the 1m quite yet so probably won't use my allocation

Yup the allocations are out there. Unfortunately for me, I was reminded how much I hate dealerships and the car buying process in general. My three option stripper(leather steering wheel, extended fuel tank, and lightweight seats) seems to be unworthy of a slot during the market adjustment gauging phase of the GT4's release. The sales person was stuck on "You need to have PLDS, Sport Chrono, PCCB, Carbon fiber, etc..... For resale value" and I was stuck on "That's just the car you want to sell, not the car I want to buy". Having been burned after ordering a fully optioned 1M, only to have it sold out from under me (for a 15K mark up), I'm in no mood to play dealership games....

You already have a 1M. Keep it and add the GT4.

I just waded through 155 pages of discussion about this car over at Rennlist.

I am obsessed with it.

Very dealer dependent; I just added my name (I'm 3rd) to wait list and can order any way I want it once allocation/production call comes up; same happened with 1M (same dealer) and ordered near stripper, paid list even tho I got the only car this dealer was allocated. There are good ones out there!

Some color ideas simply by swapping colors of two presentation pictures of the Cayman GT4 in Racing Yellow.

RBG to BRG = some kind of violet/purple:

RGB to RBG = some kind of pink:

RGB to BGR = some kind of (electric) blue:

Size: 90.3 KB
Name: Cayman_GT4_2_ElectricBlue.jpg
Views: 608

RGB to GBR = some kind of green:

There's every standard color Porsche has made on that website. The question is..... Will Porsche be willing to paint it the color you choose?

Do it. I have a feeling this will be fist (and last) GT series car since the 996 that will be enjoyable on the road without having your license under the constant threat of oblivion.

There are no good dealerships out there. They only serve to retard the process by adding unnecessary hassle and cost to the vehicle purchasing experience. I'm going to lease a Tesla for my DD at the end of next year based purely on the fact that I won't have to interface with a dealership. Meh, I'll just wait 8 months for the hype to die.

Exactly, not a single year production car and not limited to a set production number. The only real risk in waiting is that Porsche over responds to early demand and raises MSRP.
