iDrive System Slow at Startup

I have the 2008 iDrive with parking sensors. Sometimes when I turn on the car, the accept screen comes on really fast and I can turn it off. Other times, the BMW logo stays on a for ~15 seconds and I have to wait to hit accept so I can see my rear parking sensors. Usually I just drive and don't get to take advantage of the sensors. This is very annoying and I don't understand why it isn't consistent. I think it may occur more when an iPod is connected but I need to test more.

Does anyone else have this issue?

yes, it's a known issue when using the nav/BT.

you need to press the unlock of your key for a few seconds before you start the car. What I do is I unlock the car about 15ft or more before I get to the door, and viola.

Hmm..weird. I never notice this...in fact I think i've had to actually hit accept once the entire time I've had the car, I usually pull it out of the garage/get out and manually close the garage door, by the time my seat belt is on and i'm driving, the accept screen is gone and in my ipod menu.

my 09 will have the accept window up and I'll shift reverse and the sensor and and screen will go active, once complete, I'll have the accept prompt waiting.

I ask the dealer to check, might be an update for the 08 vers.

thread resurrection...
So I actually observed the disclaimer screen...it goes away after like 5-8 sec then right into mode, navi/hvac/radio/phone...you are in.

Kinda silly they ask you to accept the terms but automatically do it for you anyway if you forget...although I am not complaining!

Happens to me about 1 in every 5 times backing out of my garage. FWIW, I never have an iPod connected.

The idrive system starts booting up when you press the unlock button on the remote. Maybe sometimes you press it earlier then other times. Try pressing it when you are still in your house about 2 min before you leave and the system will be fast when you sit down.

I really learn something new everyday. Are there any potential issues for the system if I rapidly lock/unlock/lock/unlock the car via the keyfob?

me too, yesterday I hit the auto fan 2x by accident and I found you have 3 setting of auto for fan speed.. find this odd, but now it makes sense that the auto on one bar blows 'low' at low all this time.. it never seemed to blow fast unless I used the defroster...

all my previous cars on auto would blow until it got to the temp desired on high and slowly kick down to low.
