ipod Touch 3.0 Software (A No Go?)

Just updated my iPod Touch to the 3.0 software.

My 09 135i will not see it anymore. The first time I plugged it it. It resumed where it left off on a playlist. After stopping when I started my car it disappeared. I reseted my ipod.. nothing. I plugged in a nano...it sees that.

Don't have a clue.

I may just go to the old USB Flash Drive method. Now that itunes is DRM free 95% of my songs are DRM free.

Anyone else having 3.0 software problems with the touch?

I've never had any luck with my Touch in any car. Not with it being seen, but charging, so I never use it in the car anymore. I stick to my old 30GB video.

Well, since you've posted this I'm not going to update my Touch right away. And, I have had no problem with my touch in my old Volvo S60 I had previously and my present 135 vert. Worked perfectly in both and also charged in both.

3.0 software works on my iphone on my 08.
I only use it for bluetooth though i dont have the usb/ipod connector

I just tried my iPhone with the 3.0 OS with the USB/iPod connector and it worked fine. I was able to control it normally from iDrive, selected a play list, was able to see the songs and use the steering wheel controls without issue.

08 135i with iPod adapter(Dealer installed) and iPod Touch 1 Gen (3.0)

I'm not sure how I can explain my experience because I just got my car 3 days ago, but I think it doesn't work well. I set CDC to "Track 3 mode". Minute later, 135i audio system recognized all albums without problem. I can navigate and play without problem, but I have to use the radio dial.

The steering wheel's buttons works strangely. I couldn't navigate the album. If I push the button, it always play first song of the album.

Is it normal? or is it caused by 3.0 OS?

mine is iphone 3G not S with 3.0

iPhone 3.0 software update ... only for iPhone and iPod Touch (iPhone w/o the phone).

Edit: lots of improvements, google is your friend

1. My ipod Touch is a 32G 1st Generation.

I hooked it up to my trucks Pioneer Radio with ipod support. It choked at first just like my 135i. After a few minutes it just started working like it used to. Now each and every time I turn my truck on it works.

I put it back in my 135i, and it worked just fine. After I stopped somewhere, when I started my 135i back up...it didn't see my iPod Touch. Same issue.

Put it back into my truck.... it choked at first....then a few minutes later, it worked. Hmmmmmm

In the meantime, I bought a 2GB USB stick for $6.00 at Target. Since most of my itunes songs are unprotected AAC or AAC that ripped from my own CD's it works just fine. At $6.00 I am just using them kind of like playsists.

The sound quality seems a little better as well. (Could just be like the sour grapes syndrome though.)

So.... I am not that saddened by the ipod issue as much because I discovered that the head unit is a great AAC/MP3 player in its own light.

I am going to factory reset my ipod and see what happens.

I just updated my 1G Touch to 3.0 and now it isn't recognized by my 08 head unit. I'm using the Y cable. I wonder if it's an issue with the 1G touch's.

My stereo recognizes my iPhone 3GS running 3.0 but it doesn't charge. Something's up. Let's hope an answer arrives soon or that 3.1 fixes these issues.

I hope so. From what I've read on different forums the problems with the iPhone 3GS and the Touch with 3.0 is somewhat random. Some have no problems and others have issues.

I have 3.1 on my iphone 3GS and it does not charge with the Y cable (It will charge if I plug a dock cable into the glovebox and run it out near the cupholder though

My old nano works perfect. It charges and all the info comes up on my radio (playlists etc...) Got the new ipod touch with the latest software and it will charge and play through the radio but the car doesnt recognize anything being plugged into the aux port? I talked to a few people at apple and was told they have had several people with the same problem. Hopefully its a software issue that will be fixed soon?

Yeah, that's the exact problem I'm having now that I've upgraded to 3.0. My son's touch that's still on 2.2.1 works fine so it has to be a 3.0 problem.
