Vanos solenoid cleaning - help

Hey guys

I have a bmw 135i with the n54 engine, I had a code come up few weeks ago which was 2A87 Outlet-Vanos variable cam control test and 3100 boost-pressure control, deactivation

After a bit of research found out it was the exhaust solenoid and the 3100 code was limp mode

pulled out both intake and exhaust solenoid (one by one) cleaned them with CRC Brakleen but did not clean them with an air compressor as I have seen some people do.
After putting them back in, car ran perfectly normal again, maybe even better (even on WOT)
but then night time fell, driving normal, engine light came on.

Would you say I did not clean them correctly or they would need to be replaced?

Thanks guys

I had the exact same code. Cleaned them and it fixed it for a week before the code came back again. Just replace them. They're not expensive and it's a really simple job.

I bought some cheap Chinese ones from eBay for about $60 each that have a 3 year warranty. They have been perfect so far for the last 8 months or so.

I cleaned mine with a little compressed air can and reinstalled them. Been fine for 3-4 years since.
