Dealer raised price of car
On Monday, I set up an appointment for this coming Saturday to go look at a 135i that's about 2 hours away. I checked the dealer's site today to make sure the car was still available so I could still plan on driving down there. I found the car on their site and noticed the price increased by $3,000! I've never seen this done before. Has anyone else? Does this help the dealer out? I emailed the dealership and told them I was no longer interested in the vehicle.

I wonder if it's done automatically.
Like when you are searching for flights and hotel. I heard you're suppose to delete the cookies and search history before you search it again. Otherwise the price increases automatically. |

Did you talk to a sales associate about the price? If it was a technical glitch then he/she could likely work with you. Even if it isn't you know that their website doesn't dictate final pricing? The sales associate dropped the price of my car over $6K (Canadian $ mind you) before I even started to negotiate (yielding further savings). Even if it was a shady dealing in response to your appointment (or an initial mistake on their part when pricing was first posted) it'd be good to know which.

The advertised price is meaningless. Check out the car, and offer what you're willing to pay. KNOW what you're willing to pay, and stick to it. They're number is not relevant.

This. The advertised price means nothing. Pay what the car is worth to you. If they take it fine, if not move on.

I found my RX8 online at a dealer I had previously bought two cars from and I knew the sales rep who drove it as his demo car. I called them up and said I'd buy it but when I got there the price had gone up $1000. Needless to say I was pissed and I pointed out the fact that I had the Cars.com ad printed out and they're bait and switching. They finally relented since I was a "good" customer.
Trust no one and walk away when they do this.
