Sueded Out Interior

Well I just had the headliner, A/B/C pillars, shift boot and e-brake boot wrapped in suede. I will post some specific info for you later. I just wanted to get the pics up. Hope you like....I do!

I think it's awesome!
I am thinking about that too as well as the door inserts and some seat inserts.

Actually the color is slightly darker than the factory healdiner color. I did not want to go to dark because all of the plastic trim around the courtesy lights, grab handles, ect. would really look out of place and changing the color of those is a pain in the ass. I am not sure what color the Msport color is but I am sure that the plastic pieces are darker.

The guy who did the work is top notch. If anyone is interested I can hook you up with him. He is located on Long Island. PM me if you are interested.

I will probably be doing the carpeted panel on the trunk lid and in the interior the door inserts and the steering wheel next.

There's a lot of color differentiation... as long as you love it!
I would have done dark throughout.
Looks like they did a "tight" job, good work.

your shift boot and e-brake are one color, leather a different color, roof a different color too .

If you don't mind, what was the cost of the headliner? I've always wanted to have it done...

is there a flaw in the rear part of the sunroof opening? It could just be how I'm looking at it. Looks good though and definitely a first on 1addicts!

Garage List
2008 135i  [5.50]
I was just talking to a shop about doing this for my headliner, but they made it sound like a real pain in the ass and expensive. They said they would have to remove the existing fabric, which would be very time consuming and then re-wrap it. They said that adding the suede on top would be too thick and it would look right or work well with the sliding piece for the sun roof. None of this really sounded right to me, but I didn't really push back because I'm still not sure if I'll do it.

Anyway, is any of this accurate? Did they have to pull off the stock fabric? Also, did they have to remove the headliner from the car and if so how did they get it out (remove a window or through the door)?

Sorry about the list of questions, but this is something I'm seriously considering and I'm just not sure what's involved.

BTW, I was planning on going to black and replacing the light plastic pieces with the black ones from the m sport package (you can get this stuff from Dan@united). I'm not sure if I would wrap the pillars though, I might just replace them with the black ones.

Oh yeah, looks great

Thats a really nice job. Colors look good too. Have never seen it done before, but definitely considering when I can put some more cash into customizing mine. Thanks for the photos!

I've wondered if it's possible to do that to the top of the dash. Anyone ever try it?

i still dont get it... what's the point of this? i was driving into work today and was looking at the headliner, and i don't understand the point of sueding it. do you drive with one hand on the wheel and the other caressing the headliner? i could understand if you changed up the color and made it look better (like darker) but this just doesn't make sense. How much did you spend so far? I rather spend my money on something more functional for the car...

The man just likes the look of suede, it's all preference. I personally would really love to do my headliner and pillars in hound's tooth, but just haven't gotten around to it yet and don't think it would match my interior well.
