I have RDS but it doesnt work right either. I can see the stations songs playing but in the lower corner it stays on 98.9 no matter what channel im on.

Bringing it back monday for a reprogram. Gonna suck not having BT cause thats my favorite feature.

My SA said that this happens 50% of the time
Chances are they are going to have to replace your telematics unit (TMU). My SA said that this has happened to a few of the cars they updated. After the update my Assist was working okay (I did an Assist call just to be sure) but I was having serious problems with my bluetooth. I took it back but they couldn't find a problem. It seems to be working now, so we'll see. Good luck!

It sets it apart for it's class, it has not appeared in the 3 before according to BMW marketing blurb, ie a trickle down feature from the 5

Yes, i have tried to re-pair the phone but i cant. There is no option to any longer on idrive. And the assist signal strength is gone too.

Im very familiar with the car and have paired at least 4times on my car and twice on a friends.

Its definitely broken. We'll see what service says/does monday

You said how it sets the E90 apart. Obviously, it sets and has set BMW apart.

fabolous, just out of couristy. can you run through exactly how your menu goes, and which part is missing. for example. is your whole idrive menu missing. or is the idrive menu there, but your communication settings menu is missing. or is the communication menu there, but not the bluetooth tab, etc?

Well, as my car is post-september prod, I have the feature. I tried it yesterday morning: it was freezing -3°C, so all windows were frozen. I set the auto ventilation/heating to start, and checked it out about 30 minutes later.
The only thing the car did was blowing very cold air into the passenger's compartment. No heating whatsoever.
Although the manual clearly states "heating".
Anyone who knows if I'm doing something wrong ? It would be extremely cool (actually, "hot" ) if I could have my car defrosting all windows by the time I leave for work !

This is exactly what I was wondering... seems to use the term "ventilation/heating" in the manual and mention "It is ready for use at any outside temperature..."--yet also says "...provides ventilation to the passenger compartment and lowers its temperature." This leads me to think it is merely, as the word states, ventilation (i.e., just air blowing without A/C or heat). Can anyone confirm?

My reading of the manual (and after a play with it in iDrive) is that ventilation works (without AC nor Heater) for all, but the Heating is another menu option and I think you need a feature installed called "independent heating" which burns fuel from the fuel tank to produce heat. The manual warns about using this feature in a confined space, and that it switches off if there is low levels of fuel left in the tank.

Independent heating isn't an Australian option, so I guess you will have to check out if this is standard in Europe or you have to buy a "cold weather" pack or something.

You can set the residual heat to continue for up to 15 minutes after the car is off. Is there a continual AC mode for cooling up to 15 minutes after the car has been turned off?

If there’s no continual/15 minute AC I would prefer the solar ventilation. That way it’s always cool on sunny weekends (not just twice a day) and the battery doesn’t get drained.
I believe it only has to do with I-drive and it has nothing to do with the A/C. It just recirculates the air in the cabin. That solar feature is nice but it seems pricey

I am not sure exactly the menu in the car settings to pair the phone (no manual or car avail) but it doesnt appear. Also the assist and BT signal strength meter do not appear unless i manually update BMW assist.

I should be hearing back from the SA soon.

From what I remember from one of the video's it states that it can use residual heat from the engine to heat up the cabin after the engine is shut off. I don't remember anything about burning gasoline to defrost your windows. The important thing is, who cares? Its more efficent to defrost the windows yourself anyways because first you don't waste heat to simply defrost your windows and have it dissipate back into the atmosphere and second what if the window's are covered with snow? then the heat will be completely useless.
