135 offset question..

Hey everyone, I have searched and cant find exactly what I'm looking for.

I had a 09 135 but it was wreaked two years ago, so Ive been out of the 1er game for a few years, the one thing I always hated about it was that I couldn't run wide tires on her, i could only fit 255's in the rear, i am about to buy a 08 hopefully tomorrow and I want to run 275's, 265's if i have to. and 245 or 235 in the front. I would like 19's but 18's will do. The car is on TC KLINE coilovers. Don't know exactly how much the drop is, but by eye its somewhere between 1.5'-2' inches.

What offset am i looking for to run those tire sizes?

Or what wheels do you know of that can fit those sizes without rubbing. I can roll the fenders, that's no problem.

I remember people running the forgestars with those sizes, is that right or is my memory jacked? haha

thanks guys!!

PS - SO STOKED to be back in the 1er =). Got to get back in those 11's like my AW baby

Welcome back

You're pretty limited to what you can run without a roll but you say that's no issue. With a decent roll you'll even get VMR on there without rubbing but perhaps no bigger than a 255, 265 at a push. For a straight up fit I believe APEX wheels will take a 275 but they stop at 18".

It's a little annoying so since I'm planning on making this car a keeper I figured I may as well wide arch it, get some nice and wide 19s and be done.

Papa, that lowered, you will need a rear offset of at least 50, preferable more like 55 to 60 in the rear to run most 265 rear tires. In the front it's trickier, too low of an offset and you rub the fender, too high and you rub the strut. With my front wheels (19x8.5 et42) I have 4mm between my wheel and strut. So if the tire is designed to protect the wheel too well, it might rub. So a 40 to 42 offset front is what you are looking for.

The APEX Arc-8s allow for a 285 fitment with their 62mm offset in the rear. But this is with some negative camber and a stock suspension height. So if you really want rubber, you're gonna have to jack up those coil overs.

I'm going to try to go with a 10 inch custom wheel with a +65 offset, so that I can fit 295s out back. But i still need to do some math to see if it is gonna fit.

Hey its that guy!

For the front youll need a 40ish offset to fit a 245 or a 255 tire. 8 or 8.5". Watch the inner strut as those will usually rub first in the front.

If you rub the fender it will be the bumper to fender mounting flange. I can grab a picture for you if you need a visual.
