Focus RS

Just driven my friend's focus rs. What a blast! Lighter, and much quicker steering response, and good ride despite the 19 in wheels. Great induction and exhaust noise, makes my 135 seems sterile and numb. A bit of torque steer with front wheel drive, but nothing too bad. I have to say it is more enjoyable to drive than the 135. Negative? Cheap interior, it's a ford, and I am too old for the car! Took us 15 minutes to work out how to open the bonnet! You need to use the frigging key to open the bonnet!

I think I need a set of Kw for my car pronto!

Apparently they are only bringing 300 or so, and they are mostly sold. Looks good in white with black wheels, a bit boy racer with all the added on body parts, big spoiler and rear diffuser. I am showing my age.

You were not getting onto boost hard enough. Have you seen Clarkson's thoughts on the Focus RS tourque steer. He did like the RS though!

Go to 2:14 secs to see what he thinks of the torque steer!

Interesting car, I'm sure it would be fun to drive too! But being a 'cheap' car and boy racer looks I don't think I could ever live with one... Maybe an STi or Evo X would be less boy racer?

Ford said for money-saving purposes they stayed with FWD. So they bring it to Australia for RRP $60k. Sorry what?

Though I must admit the car appeals to me on some primal level...must be my young age because I bloody well want one.

Ford style, Civic + TURBO screaming clothes wash thief. Nothing close to compare with RWD sport's car. Different style car, hot hatch. Although agressive looking...

The RS is a neat car..What i have heard a blast to drive..There Revo-Knuckle is supposed to have cut down quite a bit of TQ steer..but in the LONG run as a car to have day in and day out i would bet my left nut there is plenty of TQ steer left. Having come from a MazdaSpeed3 moded with full TBE + i was well in the same power range as the RS....That car at times was dangerous..going WOT can shoot you into the next lane or sometimes towards a divider...when going around turns with that much power going to the front wheels is alway's fighting you to an extent....i prefer not to worry about TQ steer ever again in HP car..IMO the front tires should ONLY be for steering for safest aggressive driving...That said...i would not mind owning a RS... other than its inherent FWD faults its a very cool car...

My friend got one for 3k off retail OTR. Most other dealers wouldn't discount though. I doubt anyone is making money with the stamp duty taken into consideration.

Went and checked an RS out at a local dealer on Monday, it is one of the one's the dealer is asking $79900 for. When i questioned the salesman as to why it was so expensive he just shrugged his shoulders and said that's what the dealer principal has set the price at, but he stated they are open to offers

Looked pretty aggressive from the outside but pretty cheap looking interior and not worth nearly $80k.

Very happy i didn't wait around for one of these and ordered my Golf R instead.

Did you guys catch the 2nd show of Fifth Gear>? Vicki drove a RS 500 in Paris. She also mentioned that the "next" RS will loose the five banger Volvo engine and get a 250 PS turbo four!!!! That is sure to be a FAIL.

They also showed the 2014 Focus. Looks like the guy who designed the Nissan 370 tail and headlight did the new Focus. Very edgy designs for those lights.

Spotted a white RS today. Looked alright in white. Although from the back if you didn't have that diffuser it just looked like a plain Focus with a wing on the roof...

And the worst thing I noticed, was that when it moved the two exhausts wobble like a cheap aftermarket exhaust on a Nissan Silvia or something...

I suppose the 135i exhaust is all stiff and doesn't wobble, must be some special rubber mounts that Ford don't use?

All exhaust move, more evident on FWD due to engine layout (East-West, engine TQ causes the exhaust to move, that's why you generally see a flex join in FWD exhaust)

Not saying our doesn't wobble, but this wobbled a LOT. It is very rare to see standard exhausts shake like this on any car. I generally notice it more on Jap imports with aftermarket exhausts.
