Second Hand Car

My brother is looking to buy a second car. His stipulations are that the car be no older than ten years old, preferably not three door or coupe, and a maximum of $10K. Any ideas what would be the best option to look at?

Yes, daily driver. Doesn't really want a big car, so Camry, Commodore, etc are out. He was looking at Golfs and Peugeot 307's but thought I'd check if anyone had any other suggestions.

A 1'er for $10K...show me where to sign.

A Swift wouldn't be a bad call either as others suggested.

We have two Yaris YRX's as daily drives, and they are fantastic cars in 5MT.

If you hunt around probably pick up a basic 07 Yaris Y for around that price.

Do not purchase a 10 grand euro car, in the first year it will cost more than that to keep it on the road.
Just buy a Toyota corolla, Mazda 323 or Nissan pulsar, Honda cars are OK but to expensive and parts some times hard to get for the older models.Stay away from all Koren cars unless they are new. Suzuki and Subaru cars are good but will cost to repair, Mitsubishi lancer is another good car in the 10 grand price range.
Sorry but old Euro cars unless its a clasic are just crap, even some of the new ones are just as bad.
stay with the Jap brands and you will be fine.
If you need help with info give me a ring at work.

Just remember Mr pcock, a three series is only a one series with an unnecessarily larger & heavier body sitting on it.

1 series = hot model at her peak
3 series = hot model getting older and gaining more fat??? Still hot just comes with "extra"

Ford Fiesta or even Focus. Best driver's car of the bunch above. Go for service history.

Saw a Mk5 golf diesel manual for $8000. Had high klms though.

Do diesels get noisier as they age? This one sounded like a D9.

What was the budget? $100 will get him Datsun 120Y.....I loved that car.

Mate I would get a Jap car for reliability and maybe a little performance.

Civic type R
Civic Vti-r
Integra Vti-r
Pulsar -r sr20

If he is a grandpa like me then I would suggest

Nissan maxima
Toyota Camry
Ford laser
Holden barina
Toyota Prius (Eco man)
Falcon/ commodore ( go the Aussie)

I would pick the second option if he is still on his p"
