How to set timing on N47D20?

Please can anyone explain to me how to set timing on Bmw X3 2007 with the N47D20 engine in! We set the timing correctly but when the engine turns it goes out again??

Why is this happening?

Pls help!!

you must read dtc's or no one will be able to help based on almost no info...
