a question for 2011 DCT owners...

Not only have I been having fuel pump issues...

MY GODDAMN CAR IS STALLING! No CEL or any other lights. One time, I was in manual mode and the lever snapped back into neutral position and the car shut off. Another time, I was going over a speed bump and my car stalled going over it in regular "D" setting.

Anybody else experiencing this? I'm taking my car in on Monday.

My car is COMPLETELY stock except for coilovers.

I would appreciate your feedback!

Hope BMW doesn't try to use the coilovers as their "reason" for not doing the warranty work. I had one service manager and shop foreman tell me the coilovers on my M3 caused my alternator failure and refused to replace it. I got it repaired at no charge at another dealership the same day and the service rep at that dealership filed a complaint on the other dealership and reported the incident to BMWNA. Needless to say, I never visit that dealership anymore. Hope whatever it is, they don't try to hide behind your aftermarket suspension as the root cause for what sounds like a fuel pump or, even worse, a drivetrain issue. Good luck man.

goeslikeschnell,

I have a problem with N55 stalling that may be similar to yours.
Simptoms: engine silently shuts off without a tremor or CEL when cold - and i'm talking about first 5-10 minutes of trip. Tachometer is jumping wildly between 500 and 1000 rpm prior to stalling.

The stall is one-for-a-trip thing btw. The car restarts normally after and RPM never goes back to 500 until the end of the voyage, no matter what. Next day the story repeats itself.

Servicemen checked the error log and found no entries. They emptied the onboard computer memory, erasing every acquired "habit". Which helped for a day or two. Then the stall returned.

The solution was simple: to warm up a car for 3-5 minutes prior to driving. A car never stalled again.

Hope this might help, cheers

Your car is not fixed they just mask the problem! The manual even says to start and drive off so if you can not do that something is wrong with your car. I would not let the dealer get by with that. If you keep your car out of warranty you risk paying for it when it rears its ugly head out of warranty. I find it amazing the dealer tries to fool people like this to get out of fixing a fairly difficult problem on the car. Good luck.

Mine works flawlessly and the only 'problem' I have with it is the fact that I have to press the Sport button every single time I start the car (hopefully, the boys at Vishnu can fix that). Otherwise, its the best damn transmission I have ever driven.

Not fixed for sure, i know that. But they simply don't have a clue whats wrong with a car and the dealer's proposition is "can you leave your car for a couple of weeks for us to try it"? No rent available either)
So i'm driving the car until CEL lights on.

You'd be surprised. My 335 was very low and when I'd go over certain speed bumps near where I used to work the flex on the body would actually sometimes pop my car out of gear. Could be a similar thing going on w/ your car?

Wow. That's crazy. Never experienced that in the 10+ years of installing aftermarket coilovers.

Must be bad gas. That is the cause of all in warranty failures, don't you know?

My DCT is flawless. However, my 135i isn't broken in yet, is absolutely stock, and likely to stay that way. I think this theory on the coil overs is worth investigating, but I can't say that is the answer.

Mine only "tried" to stall one time early on (less than 1000 miles). Since then it has been fine. 6500 miles.
