OT: Opinions - BMW V8 TT or 6 Triple T

I just wanted to field some opinion from the knowledge base here on the Aussie site on a rather different subject.

X6 50i

And

X6 M50d

This will be controversial for sure but life is about experience, this would be one of those, buying a big truck. There is a chance we MAY be trading/selling the AW 1M (before you ask, minus the Akra) and buying one of the above.

I appreciate many here hate Toorak tractors and all that but for the right config this thing looks gorgeous in our opinions. In particular in Individual Ruby black and loaded.

I am keen to know your thoughts guys on which of the two engine choices you would pick from.

I like the X6. I've only ever driven the X6 M version.

Personally I'd be thinking the diesel, just for something different.

... Shame about the akra!

It really comes down to what's in stock and what deal you can wrangle sometimes Joe, that particular colour is a $6k option which one would probably never order.

It would be cool, mega economy too, combined 7.7l/100 , and marginally quicker to 100 than the V at 5.3 versus 5.4.

But the sound the V makes is hmmmmm

You could guess where the Akra will go

V8TT all the way. I'd never buy a black car.

Petrol is the heart choice.

Diesel the head choice.

Mind you I reckon the petrol V8 will have much larger discounts available, especially on cars in stock.

Agreed Stu, the Diesel is "newer" and as such is harder to get proportionally good or significant discounts. I think the X5 M50d only came out in August for example.

Imagine a tune and an Akra on the V8, hahahaha

I would go for the m50d used to have the 3.0diesel and love the diesel power. It all comes down to where your needle be spending it's time in. Low to mid or most of the time on the high band

I read the diesel tick sound and lag are close to none in the 50d

I love the diesels. For a non M daily I would always pick the diesel, especially great for highway driving.

A QLD member from xoutpost forum recently purchased a X5 50d and wrote a full detail review about his thoughts on the triple turbos, worthwhile to read it.

They are very different vehicles, if the F30 M3 was out then we may look at that or the M2 etc etc this would be a truck for fun, no other reason, no good ones anyway.

M50d. I've made the change and I'm loving it. Just thinking about chipping the 520d and pushing it to 450Nm from 380Nm!

As a daily driver the diesel gives me more Joy than the M3 ever did.
