Does an LSD affect the DSC?

So I'm out of warrenty and am considering an LSD (Hi Andrew!). My question is - is the programing of the DSC capable of dealing with the change in traction bought about by the LSD? Surely BMW program it to the existing parameters of the car and an LSD would change these,

Your thought/experiences appreciated.

Not sure there would be any detrimental effect since the LSD just limits the difference in rotation speed between your two rear wheels. It just means that the DSC system will not have to cut in as much due to the fact that you won't be doing 1 wheel burnouts anymore.

Also are you 6MT or 6AT? Us manual drivers have a welded diff which costs an absolute fortune to replace

I've had a Quaife LSD in my 130i, and a Drexler and Wavetrac in my 135i and they've all been compatible with DSC in my cars. All 6MT.

Mines a 6mt and as it was one of the first batch, it has the old computer and bolted rear diff. I believe any thing after 3/08 has the newer computer and welded diff.

Not quite. Sold the 130i and had to replace the drexler in the 135i.

The drexler requires frequent maintenance (eg: diff oil changes) and its difficult because there is no easy way to get the oil out. You have to open the "in" plug and get a pump to pump the oil oiut. I waited too long, and after 10000km, the diff oil was jet black.

THEN, look what happened to my half shafts (on the 135i) at the drags...

So, then I went with the wavetrac. No issues thus far.

I just had the Quaife installed on the weekend and the effect is just phenomenal. It does seem to work quite well with the TC. In my experience since Sunday , the LSD does its do faster than the traction control is activated. The kind of slip angles that the system allowed with the traction control halfway off (DTC icon in display) seems to be what I'm now getting with traction control fully on. In spots where the TC-activated blinking yellow warning light would come on religiously and aggressively, I now get little or no blinking light because of the extra grip provided by the LSD to the drive wheels. Car goes into and comes out of corners like mad now, and it feels like I have better control of placement, adjustments mid-corner on the throttle, really effective trail-braking etc. You won't be unhappy getting one of these. I did install M3 rear subframe bushings at the same time but I think most of the improvement aside from the significantly more planted feel of the rear, is probably due to the LSD.
