19" wheels

So I'm keen for some VMR 19" wheels, or whatever brand that is similar, however I cannot find any in the correct fitment.

Looking back over historic threads on here it seems that the recommended rear size for 1ers was 9.5 +50. However, VMR are saying they dont stock wheels in that size anymore and that +40 or +45 should be fine.

I dont want to purchase a set of wheels based on this advice only to find they dont fit properly. Can anyone confirm that +45 in the rears is OK?

No dont get ET45 that will most likely rub.

You would have to stick to the stock height although on big bumps it would still rub anyway.

If you want to fit any sort of decent tyre on there itll rub like crazy. Even a 255 AD08R can actually rub on the stock rims on certain cars (although mine dont)

ET 55-58 9.5 is what youd want to fit a decent tyre 265/275

Also imo 19s on these cars suck. The non M profiles are rubbish, they are too low and cracked rims arent too uncommon due to no sidewall to cushion the bumps.

Thanks for the info. I'm not very impressed that they tried to sell me wheels that wouldn't fit properly - wouldn't buy wheels off them now.

I just want 19" purely for the aesthetics, but not many decent options that's for sure.

Fully agree, 19's look good but rubber band thin tyres aren't practical on poor roads. I've had a 225/40/18 tyre develop a (slow) sidewall puncture just by hitting a medium pothole at 70km/h - and that's not an unreasonably thin tyre.

Regarding offset, I have a 9.5inch ET58 rear rim with PS4 265/35/18 and had rubbing issues (fixed with a fender roll). General consensus was I should be fine with my stock setup but I think things like manufacturing tolerances, bushing wear, alignment etc will play a role whether you clear or not.

Ok, decided to ditch the idea for 19" and settle for 18". Want to go with Apex EC-7 but shipping seems quite pricey - is there a trick to getting these to Australia cheaper than direct via website? Any local importer/distributors?

Not really, but call or email Apex. They are pretty helpful, ship quickly and good with declaring the right value for customs.
