Pre-purchase Inspection
Hi wise ones...
Can those in the know recommend who I could / should use for a comprehensive pre-purchase inspection of a 135i in the Melbourne and Sydney areas? I'm looking for the sort of inspection that provides a comprehensive check list so I know what has been checked and a report detailing any / all issues. The sort of thing that you'd get from RACV or NRMA but hopefully done by someone who knows the cars well.

I just got one done a few days ago for my soon to be picked up 135i... by 'Stateroads' in the ACT. They also do Sydney/Melbourne cars...
PM me your email and I'll forward it to you so you know what it involves? For Sydney cars I'd also recommend AVI, http://www.vehicleinspections.net.au/ In hindsight, the car was only 3 years old with <40,000kms so the report showed what I was expecting = no major issues, light wear and tear, everything's hunky dory etc. Although with these guys... as in generic companies... they're probably more familiar with corollas etc... but they do use a paint thickness measurer to tell you if there's been any accident damage. You can always try get intouch with a BMW mechanic.. I know a couple of workshop tecchies in sydney that do this stuff on the side, not as comprehensive as the proper companies, but I guess more 'bmw focused' in what to look for and stuff. |

I'm using MTA in Coffs Harbour - I think they are in Sydney as well:
http://www.mtavehicleinspections.com.au/ Will get the report on Monday, so not sure about their service yet... |

MTA had the report emailed to me the same day, BTW. Seemed like a thorough inspection, though it was low on qualifying comments....usually one sentence in each section of not much substance....
I guess they didn't check the fuel pump... |

BMTech in Canterbury, Melbourne, do specialised pre-purchase inspections: http://www.bmtech.com.au/services/se...nspections.asp.
However, never used them, so don't know if they are good or not. |

Same as my stateroads inspection, lots of tick boxes, a few sentences on each area of the car... no specific check of fuel pump or whatnot.
