Heat from under the car

I recently installed gutted N54 midpipes on my car and apart from a leak at the donut everything seems ok.

Last weekend I updated my PROcede maps to the latest 9-10 aggressive maps which sets the default position of the wastegates to 50% instead of 90%. I'm not sure of the reason for this but it's definitely made my exhaust louder but I'm also now noticing a lot of heat coming from under the car whenever I get out.

Is this due to the wastegates or could it be some kind of exhaust leak at the downpipe connection?

Also, does anyone know the reason for setting the wastegate position to 50% rather than 90% other than to reduce wastegate rattle? Does it not affect performance at all?

The car runs beautifully by the way. New maps are awesome. Was previously using autotune maps.
