Just bit the bullet on one for my 125i - will post my findings once it arrives and I've got time to install.

I'm quite curious to see if you'll get a engine light like me since we have a similar setup : 125i, no exhaust.

I've removed mine but I'll try to reinstall it but with some duct tape added on the filter to lower the air flow.
The gains in torque are really greatly appreciable, I miss it now.

When you say no exhaust do you mean the stock exhaust system is in place or some kind of muffler delete?

If the latter do you think the engine light would come on if you had kept the muffler?

I meant stock exhaust.
All the other guys having a 125i + Injen had a performance exhaust as well... although they didn't get yellow light.

I'm now trying to slightly reduce the airflow using tape :

I hope it'll work.

are you sure engine light comes on because of "more air" ? You don't have FI, I'd think engine will use more if more is available..Not because it is forced in with pressure..

In addition; have you tried using higher octane gas? or are you already using the standard highest in EU? 98 or w.e

Ethermal, thanks for the info, will let you know.
Here it is, however I have not been able to find this anywhere else. No vendor or even AFE lists this on their website, they just a have drop in filter replacement.

Yup, the engine lights I've had were all due to the A/F ratio that was too high.
You're right, the engine may adapt the fuel to match the higher airflow, but within a certain range, keeping in mind the 125i is a restricted 3L: I'm sure I won't get these lights once I get the 130i remap.

What do you mean by FI ?

Last point, no I've not tried to use the 98 octane instead of the usual 95. What would it change ?

FI = forced induction aka turbos.

I wish I can get the 130i remap as well

I'm betting you have a air leak somewhere after the air filter and before the throttle body. I'm betting if it is getting too much air then it's an air leak check all of your fittings. I would loosen everything and then reattach and re-tighten everything. Have you done a scan and made sure that it is in fact a high flow code? I know when I was putting the stock air intake back on my car I never got it back on correctly and when i went to start the car it threw a code immediately and then shut off. I went back and sure enough there was a leak so I loosened and reattached and everything was good again.

About the codes, I confirm that the A/F ratio was the diagnostic report.
I suspected an air leak as well, I tried to loosen, tighten and so on.
I even tried to lower the filter in the engine bay.

None of these options allowed to get rid of this light.

One should keep in mind that this filter is designed for x28 and x30.... not for x25.
I think that explains easily why I'm getting these codes.
In my opinion, one needs to lower a bit the airflow.

I haven't installed the filter yet, I'll keep you updated with my findings.

EDIT : I've tried to remove the tape. I've been driving around for a couple weeks now and it works. My guess is the intake wasn't correctly plugged on the manifold (it has to be pushed). So this intake works nice with 125i, i was completely wrong.

heat shield very important because it allows more cold air into the system which is good. Without it, because your engine is hot, the air around intake becomes warm.

hydro shield doesnt really matter, but mine came with them for free when I purchased it

It should, I don't think anything major was updated engine wise on any 128i.

Has anyone had problems with this intake "slipping off." What I am saying is the connection to the engine is not a good one... wondering what I am doing wrong?

You're probably not tightening the clamp on properly, the pipe might be slipped on on an angle.
