Hit curb, help with repairs.

I ran over a curb on my vehicle's passenger side, and must've somehow hit the wheel on the rear.

Had the car put on a lift yesterday and the mechanic told me that the spindle had been bent and needs to be replaced. His recommendation is to replace the spindle, as well as all three control arms.

He wanted to give me an idea of cost and pointed me to this on RealOEM.

1; Wheel carrier, rear left; 33326774807; $468.55

What does this part include? Because I see used spindles for ~$200 all over. Like here.

Do any of you know if all 09+ 3 series and 1 series use the same spindles?

Does left side/right side matter?

What's the best route for me to take to save money here? Because I'll be paying for the repairs out of pocket, and won't know if the front has taken any damage until we fix the rear and do an alignment.

Can't really see a whole lot from the picture, but I'm a little skeptical that you bent the actual spindle as it's a pretty hefty piece.

I would replace the arms (would personally go ahead and upgrade to E9x M3 arms) and get a new tire. See if that fixes it before dropping more money on a new spindle.

If you are in the metro NY area, I suggest you take the car to Drive Auto Works in Clifton, NJ. They take care of all my cars as well as my parents cars. They specialize in german luxury cars. They also have a 2nd location in Mountainside, NJ.

That's actually what I was thinking...

The wheel is shifted outwards from the top. Also, the brake light (yellow) is on. Would bent arms trigger the brake light??

It's just that right now it can't be driven and I have to tow it from location to location. Would there be any issues with me upgrading the rear arms only to E9x M3 arms?

You might have broken or jarred the brake sensor loose causing the light to come on.

Only having M3 rear arms isn't going to cause any issues. Just much beefier arms with much better bushings.

What about labor? You don't want to cheap out and end up doing the job twice. I'd follow your mechanics advice.

Once the rear is fixed, you can see how it drives and figure if the front need work.

OP, how did this turn out? I hit a curb with inside rear wheel, bent wheel, and am trying to diagnose as well.

Where did you source part for reasonable price?

First mechanic wanted to charge me close to $1,000 just to replace one wheel carrier. Then said he "suggested" replacing the entire suspension, lol. Pretty much wasn't trying to help me out at all, and gave me shit advice. Never going back there.

Took it to the shop that my cousin works at and his boss was able to source a used spindle/wheel hub/strut assembly for the wheel that got hit (rear passenger). Replaced it for $750 including labor/parts. Everything has been fine since.

Take a look at the spindle, compare the angle that the spindle is at on the side opposite to the one that got hit, to the one on the side that got hit. It's a bit hard to notice unless you know what it's supposed to look at. Good luck man.

I can try to find out where they got the wheel assembly from. Some junk yard I believe.

Thanks--I will take your advice to look at the spindle.

I talked to someone else who had a similar issue and ended up changing out rear control arms and replacing subframe finally to fix it. Contemplating making claim through insurance as it sounds like this could be rather un-fun to hunt down on my primary car.

Appreciate the offer--will let you know if I'm curious for more info for parts source.
