I was talking about the air coming out of the center vents. When you go WOT for as long as we can over here on the Autobahns... after a long time, the vacuum stored in the vacuum res will be depleted and the air output will default to the windshield vents (ie defrost mode).

Check the battery compartment under the trunk floor. They should have included a spare liter of oil.

If not - look for Castrol Synthetic API SM or higher, High Performance Synthetic SAE 0-40 or 5W-40.

Add coolant (when the engine is cold, of course) to the required level and check in a few weeks or months if the coolant level dropped again. Might be merely a one off at the early stage of 1M engine life (as seemed to have happened already to several 1Ms, including mine: top it off and the problem does not recur anymore): http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=763388

Over 17,200 km. Got an oil warning today (oil symbol on on-board computer). Never used my 1M on a race track.

SatNav: yellow engine diagram (instead of the regular green) + warning that oil is at "minimum level".

System requests to add 1 liter.

Already added a liter in the past.

For your info some BMW 1M values:
(source: http://www.automobile-catalog.com/oi...1_m_coupe.html) (probably equal values for the 135i: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=315057)
  • BMW 1M engine lubricant oil capacity: 6.5 liter | 6.9 U.S. qt | 5.7 imp. qt
  • BMW 1M engine coolant capacity: 10.4 liter | 11 U.S. qt | 9.2 imp. qt
  • BMW 1M fuel tank capacity: 53 liter | 14 U.S. gal | 11.6 imp. gal

My consumption has decreased since it was new. I had to add 1 qt within 2500 miles of my run-in service which was done right on time. I was nearly 1qt low when I changed the oil at 6000 miles. I am now at 11000 miles and at 1/2 quart low on the e-dipstick, but haven't had to add anything, despite 2 autocrosses and a few day-long spirited canyon drives.

Generally re 1M fluids (engine, transmission, differential): see the 1M fluids sticky:
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=620282

General BMW info regarding engine oil for the 128i/135i and 1M.

More particularly pages 217-219 of the "BMW 128i/135i Owner's Manual 2012" (USA) (which was supplied with the 1M, together with the "BMW 1M Supplementary Owner's Manual").

For the complete manual (as well as other manuals and basic info): see the "BMW 1M Manual | Catalogue | Presskit | Pricelist" sticky (http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...82&postcount=1).

1 year and 7 months, 9.000 km and heavy street use with average consumption of 17,3 liter/100km . NO oil consumption.
Note : heavy break in period. I did not follow the manual instructions. Once the engine was warm WOT . Engine tune @ 5.000 km

I had the oil changed when the car had 1700 km now it has 4300 km and the oil light indicates that it needs 1 litre.

I had a 135i a couple of years ago and asked for a litre too when it was close to 5000 km... so I guess it's normal in our cars

need advice guys, when I drove nort loop (nurburgring), always before going to the track i check e-dipstick, when I go to the track e-dipstick show a maximum lvl when i made one lap they shown below the minimum . I added a liter, and still showed below the minimum and I add another 300gr. and then BC (I-drive) showed max lvl. After I carefully watched oil level, what could happen if I did one lap when the oil showed less than the minimum ((

I hate this e-dipstick

I'm sure you are fine. I'd actually worry as much about overfilling.

It's amazing to me how little damage occurs to engines with low oil or even short term absense of oil. For example I have frequently ran out of oil on 2cycle engines. It will get loud and run poorly. You notice it, add oil, and no issues. Btw, I'm not trying to compare our engines to 2cycle engines. The opposite argument is that's why airplanes and alot of cars use dry sump lube, to keep the oil levels more appropriate under G forces, etc.

As far as oil use, my FBO modded 135 has 47k miles and I've never had to add any oil. I do change my oil around every 7k miles and I'm rarely able to get my car to full throttle safely here on American roads and I'd be scared to track my car..lol. My oil catch can has collected maybe a half cup of oil so far (although it is the Riss Racing model, which does leak mildly at the connections).
