There is a video of a N55 135 with Perf exhaust on youtube as well, give me a second to find it!

Ah yes, I've seen this one. It's always nice to hear it from different recordings though. I love how it's a little throatier than the on the N54. It'll definitely be one of my first purchases when I finally get my car.

Thank you for posting that. I think it sounds absolutely epic, especially on the overrun.

But the question is, was that the Perf. Exhaust meant for the N54, or a new one meant for the N55? (I'll send that person a message when I get home, just wondering if you knew)

It's a carry-over. The N55 335i sedans do not need a mid-pipe, but they'll come with one regardless.

135i stays the same.

no joke, the 135i n55 perf exhaust sounds way worse than n54 perf exhaust imo. sounds less racy and more truckish or something. i don't like it

i agree, i'm not feeling that video, but it could just be the way the n55 video was taken. we need a video like this to compare

Well... you could always just install the PE rear muffler (only the damper/can) first and then see/hear how it sounds.

You don't HAVE to install the center section. I have been thinking of doing just that on my N54 135i. I want a louder exhaist than stock but not as loud and grumbling as the full PE is. I think it would also be a real simple install for the DIY-er in my garage.

Is it just me or for whatever reason, the 135i just never sounds as good as 335i. Like more muted or something.

Different strokes for different folks...My 335 N54 sounds nice but I greatly prefer the 135 N55 sound by a wide margin. In these videos I like the throatier, more gurgling growl while the N54 sounds great, as well, with it's cleaner more metallic sound. It's just one of those things...subjective to the core.
