Odd Tire wear?

Long time lurker, and 2011 135i owner here. I guess I wore out this set of tires, since they just went flat. Anyone seen this type of tire wear before?

Looks like someone needs to make more regular tire inspections. Those things are well and truly shot, and it didn't happen overnight...

What alignment setting were you supposed to be on, and did you get it aligned when the new tires went on?

front or rear? 245/35 so I'm guessing rear

kind of tough to tell from the small area shown in the pics, but could be wearing against suspension, could be toe or camber is off. Assuming an all stock configuration I'd suggest getting a good (4 wheel full spec, not a "toe-n-go" job) from a respectable shop and having them verify all the suspension bits are in good shape- no worn bushings etc.

And agree with above- inspect your bits more often

Yes, rear tire. Other side has similar, but not as much wear. No rubbing on suspension, or other hard parts. Don't know on alignment yet - I'll have it checked when new tires go on.

Tires are down to the wear bars all around, but this damage wasn't visible without removing the tires, or getting under the car. I typically wouldn't be that thorough for a car that doesn't see any track time.

I think the wear may be caused by suspension squat under acceleration. The alignment check will yield more clues.

By the way another reason to ditch RFT's excessive wear, I was getting ridiculous wear on 2 sets of tires, winters and summers,
went to go flats, better ride, grip, traction, and WEAR is phenomenal

Not that any of you probably need to hear it, but the ride with the Michelin PSS installed is so much better!
