Same size front and rear wheel and tire.

Has anyone gone to same size wheel and tire front and rear? I have an E88 and have read that the larger rear tires are to induce "safe" understeer. Considering same size front and rear for more neutral handling.

I'm currently running 235/40-17 all around, but planning to go 245.

It is my understanding that you can run 4 rear wheels and tires if you add 10mm spacers to the front. 245/35/18 on all corners. I haven't seen a car actually doing this yet.
I think it might look better if you use 10mm spacers in the rear also. Better balanced look. JMHO

I'm thinking of going 225/40/18 all round as I think the dynamics might be better.

However, I am wondering whether the narrower rear tyres will give me less traction from a starting start. Will I really notice any difference away from the lights?

This. I can't imagine trying to put 280+ ft-lbs down with 225's.

While it will feel neutral with a non staggered set-up, you don't get grip at the limit and lose it much easier.
