It's really popular because it's OE and does sound very nice..I don't think any of these exhausts really sound "better" than the other, they're all very high quality and ultimately it's a subjective judgement. Anyways, here are a few cellphone videos I took on the way home, it really doesn't sound very good due to the amount of outside noise...better videos this weekend. I took a video of a coldstart in the garage, but the combination of being against and wall+industrial fans nearby totally drowned out any useful noise.

Sounds good to me Pat! Meisterschaft has some kind of deep and also screaming sound at higher rpm. Okay, now I have to decide which one I like the most. Thanks bud!

Sounds about right, it's a very deep tone until about 4k or so, then it just screams to redline. Load really changes things too, under heavy throttle you can get some fun noises down low. Like I said, this weekend I can take some proper footage, those videos don't do it any justice.

I'm going to vote outside of the options and go with Berk. Both their street and race axel backs are smooth and sexy.

You can't go wrong with Berk, they have a proven record of quality parts for our cars. At the end of the day so much of this is subjective, all of the companies mentioned in this thread produce beautiful product...it's just a matter of what the OP wants.

Street is one of the more modest (by that I mean quiet) axle-backs out there, Race is a muffler delete and is pretty damn loud. If you're going Berk, i'd go with race, but that's just me as I have a pretty high tolerance to volume and rasp.

I went with a straight-through (magna-flow I think) from my local muffler shop, cost me under $300 and sounds every bit as good as the PE IMO. I've heard one or 2 other 135's and 335's with exhausts and mine sounded as good or better.

The muffler shop held 4 or 5 different mufflers up to the pipe so I could hear how each one sounded. The car isn't that loud even with no muffler actually. I went with the straight-through tube style muffler.

The sound is very nice, drone isn't bad at all, and it has a nice burble off-power.

Axle back exhausts are basically a tube and a muffler, I just couldn't see paying that much.

The BMW exhaust weighs a LOT, just something else to keep in mind.

I have the Berk Race and do not think it is loud at all, well maybe a little when you first start it up but once you are moving it is not that much louder than stock, and I have a convertible. Keep in mind that with this exhaust the cats and resonator remain in place, which help to restrict how loud it can actually get. As far as the Berk Street goes it still has a muffler so the sound is not much different than stock; I personally don't see why anyone would opt for that option.

Pat, are you able to take videos using your go pro? I just recall about your possibility of doing more videos during this weekend. Just curious though. Thanks bud

Sorry man the weather was terrible this weekend, very very rainy/drizzly. WOT would have ended terribly....It's pretty crap out today as well, but hopefully it'll clear up soon and I can take the car for a good spin. I know you're chomping at the bit for a new exhaust, so i'll try to get this taken care of asap

It's cool, I don't drive my car all that hard, so whenever I get a decent reason to go WOT I don't turn it down. No burden on my end! I'll let you know when the weather clears up and the roads dry out, they were soaked when I went out to lunch just now
