When i first took delivery of my car - i was like, someone needs to make an iphone holder/cradle and build it so it snaps right into this.... but then i realized that after adding any descent case, the iphone fits perfectly in the cup holder... even the cut out is perfect for manipulation of home button while driving without having to look.....

Just to bump an old thread.
I have retrofitted the cup holder and transformed it to an Iphone 4 cradle. I have a DIY for it and will post it in a separate thread one of the coming days!

Looking forward to this! I was thinking about an iPhone holder this morning. I am going to start trying to use the RadarActive app. If I like it enough, I may shell out the $90.00 to hook the phone to the V1.

Sorry about the grammar. You should never allow liquids in the cockpit. They end up all over the place and distract from the task at hand.

I also retrofitted the cup holder to have two usable ones. It was pretty easy. Hardest part is probably pulling on the shift knob hard enough to get it off. I mainly use the new one. The one usable one in the arm rest is too close to me to be comfortable.

Mine came with the cup holder, but I don't drink in my car. I pulled out the cup holder, but it really annoys me that I have to replace the center console to get rid of the slot/bracket which holds it.

My cupholder is for my DROID X2 phone. It works really well as a cell phone cradle.

If you want to add one, like I did, look for the DIY on console removal. It is not that hard. If you want to remove your cup holder, the main part just pulls out as has been noted. When you pull it out, a metal cover flips into place to cover the hole. If it still bothers you, you could replace the console. I think it's about $100. RealOEM would tell you.

My used 128i is missing the cup holder, if anyone has a spare?
Just need the actual cup holder piece, the slot is already there. PM me if you no longer want yours |
