finally became an addict
i've lurked this forum for about 6 months, but since reading SLrocket's first post, i figured it was time to finally join. let me first say that my whole family is full of BMW addicts..that's all my family wants to drive, haha. when it was time to get my first car, i didnt ask for a new car, i asked for my dad's beater. he took COMPLETE care of the e30 since '85 and now its mine. it wasnt till i began to drive it that i really appreciated BMWs. it also gave me an appreciation for the mechanical connection you get from a manual transmission. anyway, since my e30 IS after all a 23yo car, my parents wanted me to get a new car. i chose the e46 330ci after having driven my sister's e46 325, but then i heard the N54 engine was going into the 1er, so i dropped all talk about the 330ci and took a chance on asking my parents about the 135i. to my surprise, they agreed...IF and only if i make it out of college with an exceptionally high gpa...so i have my work cut out for me, but the 135i is all the motivation i need . i also had the pleasure of test driving one last time i visited home from college and SH*T...there is no way someone could drive it and NOT love it.
anyway, yea, just trying to make a first post here.

Me Too!
I've been lurking on here for so long, I've forgotten how long it's been. You're very lucky that your parents agreed to get you a 135. Make sure you keep those grades up and it's all yours. I won't say how long ago I graduated from college but my graduation gift to myself was a new Ford Probe GT, which I loved. I don't come from a family full of Bimmers but I have a friend who's owned five, so I live vicariously through him. He has been kind enough to let me drive all of them, on the street and at auto-x.
I finally talked the wife into letting me get my dream car, a 135. Specifically, a Monaco Blue, Terracotta Leather, 6spd with Sport Package and I-pod/USB adapter. She's going to graduate from med school in the Fall of '09. So she said I could get the 135 through ED, and she gets a trip to Europe. Once she agreed to that, I told her we just had to have it sent to PCD and pick it up there. Needless to say, she's a keeper. I understand how everyone feels about waiting for their particular build date but I've got 1 year 5 months and counting. Glad to finally be a contributing member of the best forum ever. |
