Sports package is a must unless your hands are to small or your butt is to big.(thick wheel and narrow seats)
USB is the new disk changer(over 500 songs on a $20 thumbdrive) Premium HiFi unless "stock stereo" is good enough for you.(metal cones and a 300watt digital amp for only $875) CA is nice if you have a purse to lose the remote in. (or share your pwr seat car) These are just one man's opinions. Only you can decide. It's your money. Get what you want (or need). |

If in Canada:
M-sport. For $1600 you get the thick steering wheel, style 261m's, sills, dead pedal, anthracite headliner, shadowline trim, shift knob etc. I'm probably missing a few things. I think this basically the US sport package minus the wheels, right? Seems worth it.

After ~1200 miles here is my list of options and ratings:
Premium Package - 4 way lumbar support was a must have for me. Leather is nice, and worth it imo. Biggest surprise is how useful bluetooth is; I would not get a car without it from here on out. Sport Package - The side bolsters feel great and the steering wheel is the best I have had/used. Must have. Heated Front Seats - Yawn. Comfort Access System - Nice, but nowhere near a must have. Navigation System - Day to day driving, not really worth it. It has been great for weekend trips, which I do quite frequently. Additionally, the iPod browsing and phone menus are really nice to have. Not a must have. iPod and USB Adapter - Awesome! Must have if you listen to music and have an ipod/USB device. Just don't plan on taking it out of the car ever again! Must have. Premium Hi-Fi system- Amazing. There is a clear difference between it and the standard system, as well as other "premium" systems from the likes of Acura/Audi. Must have. 135i - The engine is sweet, no doubt about it. However, if forced to choose between a no option 135i and 128i, I would probably go for the 128i as I find the power in the 135i to be borderline excessive, making the 128i a reasonable and respectable choice. |

absolutely, rear Park distance control extremely helpful too because of the limited visibility out the back.

must have: sports pack and power seats
i was missing the IPOD option but now that i found a $20 car charger that works with my old ipod i am thinking that although it may be more convenient to change songs from the steering wheel, i only use 1 button on my ipod while driving, i know where that button is without looking down and i don't need to see song info. so i think although the ipod option would be nice its not a "must". if get tired of reaching back to change songs, I will buy a remote control for the ipod. i haven't heard the upgraded stereo, so maybe that is a must have, but I am pretty happy with the standard so far.

i agree that the USB is so usefull, but i find it borderline stealing to charge $400 for an input....what does it cost like $2.
USB inputs should be standard on all cars. It is standard on all aftermarket radios. |

twin turbo, 6 piston brakes, eLSD, weight reduction... all standard:thumbup:
I got, in order of importance: -ZSP (Sport) -6FL (iPod) -677 (Premium Sound, for me it was NEEDED) -639 (Assist) -609 (Navi, for making Assist and iPod EASIER to control) Leather is hit or miss if you need a splash of color. if your getting black, ette is fine.

If I am not mistaken, the ipod adaptor can be installed aftermarket (the BMW one)
I was in a unique situation, I wanted a 128i and there were two dealerships with two AW coming in... One had black leather and an ipod adapter and the other one had power seats with Taupe... I wanted the black interior one but that dealership were rude to me so I bought the taupe with power seats... trust me....GET THE iPod Adapter if you are ordering.... You will use it!!! : ) the controls are so easy.... *so please don't crush my dreams of getting one done aftermarket* : ) |

To me, there is not a single "must have" option. Yes, like everyone else I ordered some options but not a single one of them makes the car accelerate, corner, or brake any better than stock. You can argue BMW assist makes the car safer. Everything else is for convenience, comfort, entertainment. Comfort could be a must have so get the sport package.
Idrive - buy a map PDC - get out and look Active Steering - meh Ipod/USB - nice if you have and use an ipod daily but not critical. This doesn't improve sound quality. HD Radio/Sirius/HiFi Stereo - nice if you're in your car a lot. However, factory stereo is not any worse than my Audi Bose Premium Comfort Access - nice on the 'vert Heated Seats - nice in cold weather, helps resale in certain climates. If doing this, get the cold weather. The "armrest" is more of a flap but it works. The pass through is nice Premium Package - I'm not missing it... Leather - I wanted Coral so I had no choice Metallic Paint - duh, not a must have Did I forget anything?
