OBD 2 code

I stopped by the local auto parts shop and borrowed their OBD 2 code reader to pull the code off my 09 135i when it had the Engine malfunction / loss of power icon flash on the iDrive screen. It reads: P0015 Exhaust camshaft position, timing over retarded, bank 1? Any ideas?? I turned off the car and restarted it and the code went away and the car returned to full power again?? Is this something major?

Not saying this is 100% the issue you're having, but there's a start. Doesn't sound too serious to me but something that needs to be addressed, assuming that's the worn out part.

I would at least take it to the dealer and have them diagnose it. I guarantee it stored the code and what ever caused it.

I just a check engine light pop up on my dash today, pulled the code and got a similar problem.

2009 BMW 135 (64k miles): OBD 2 code P052B - Cold Start 'A' Camshaft Position Timing Over-Retarded (Bank 1)

Check Engine light came on soon after cold-start take off.

The BMW near me sell the sensors for $120+tax EACH.

I'm just going to order them from ECS Tuning and replace them myself, it looks to be a easy job.
