I would never get that color interior, but it looks real good in a black car. Just a little to flashy for my tastes.

Thanks, Harold. I adore Coral Red. I'm not sure I'm brave enough to actually buy it, but in my dreams I am cool enough to drive a car with bright red leather.
Is that the piano black trim? It's hard to tell from the pics. |

I previously owned an Alpine White with Red interior. I had no interest in that combo until I took one for a test drive and discovered that it really worked well. You should definitely check it out in the flesh. I like how BMW has done it on the 1er. Only the seats and door panels are done in red, so it's not so overwhelming. |

I still want to know why the radio and climate control keep switching places! It's like the mole on the king from Robinhood: Men in Tights.

Are the red seats shown above standard or sport seats? Not a lot of bolstering is there?

Back seat room?
It's not a priority for me. If given the preference, I'd sacrifice it for a smaller car and/or a larger trunk. In the past 150K miles I've had a back seat passenger exactly four times. YMMV.

One of the things I've noticed -- and that confuses me -- is that some interior pictures have the interior color as only seats/doors, but some have a more total application of armrest area and the underside of the dash. That's the way it is on the BMWUSA site, and it would seem like the light interiors (as shown on this thread) would be very unappealing if only the seats were taupe or whatever the color is.
Anyone know the answer? |

That's a mule. Notice the taped over roundel on the steering wheel. So, they could be most anything, and possibly non functioning. I'm guessing front and rear park distance control, and nav screen raise and lower. The convertible will have raise and lower controls too.

The row of buttons between the disc players are favorite buttons which you can assign to different tasks such as: call numbers, nav to places, radio channels & etc. It comes with the Nav system.

Looks like BMW deleted the extra pop up cup holder on the passenger transmission tunnel as seen in the picture of the mule. :-(

I've googled and googled, by the way, but there is no place to get a definite answer. I do know from looking at hatches and 5-door 1s in my dealer's showroom that the second from left can be PDC and second from right can be the function to activate or inactivate the function to turn the diesel engine off when you are stopped. |
