Limited run of 35 135i cars for Australian market factory upgraded

Check it out:

http://www.carpoint.com.au/news/2009...ustralia-17650

For an extra $10k + taxes of course.

I think a JB+ would achieve more in terms of power for about $300....

Sounds like it's just installing the BMW Performance Power Kit; horsepower gains are from 300hp (225 kw) to 320hp (240 kw). Australian dollar is getting stronger, but it's asinine to buy an AUS$80,000 (USD$72,000) car plus AUS$20,000 (USD$18,000) for 20 extra horses. Twenty extra horses for 25% of the car's total price?! REALLY??!! Even with those extra bits, i.e. "performance air intake, new exhaust as well as carbon fibre highlights under the bonnet and across the lower rear bumper", it's most definitely not worth the extra AUS$20,000. If a 1er coupe starts at AUS$80,000, I really don't want to know how much the other cars' starting prices are.

They've got to be kidding for $20K. However, if they can get this across the line from an emissions point of view, that might leave scope for us "regular" 135i owners to actually get hold of the performance upgrade, which is listed on the website but unattainable by anyone.

Sounds like they have dropped the more powerful version of the N54 engine as used in the new F01 7-series into the 1-series. Not worth another $20k in any case.

Should be worth a 140i badge to match the 740i with the same engine...
