Mine also folds in a split second later on driver's side. Not sure why, interesting everyone has the same experience, it seems.

+1. I'd be willing to pay to have this activated. Seems sort of petty for it not to be standard. Absolutely my only disappointment with the car so far.

Just wondering, are you pressing the button to engage this feature or is there a way to make this happen automatically upon start or stop of the engine?

They can be coded to fold in when locking the car and fold out when unlocking the car.

I believe some European versions of the car already come this way.

I'm assuming I have to go to the stealer to get this done right?

Er... none of my BMWs had the driver's side tilting when reversing.

On another note, did you buy your car at South Motors?

my passenger mirror does not tilt, maybe it only works on the mirrors with the power folding option? My 335i would tilt but I did not have the power fold option on that car.

Make sure the selector switch is set to the driver side.

As mentioned by other posters, it appears that the passenger mirror tilt function is part of an optional package as it is in the standard 1 series. This is different from the mirror folding function, although they may both be part of the same package. However, while there is certainly additional hardware involved for folding mirrors (different mirrors), the tilt function would appear to be a simple coding issue.

Anybody have a shred of insight into how the tilt function might be coded into a stripper? Just because I didn't want premium or convenience packages doesn't mean my wheels deserve to be scratched because I can't park without mirror tilt, right?

Slightly off/peri-topic:

My pass side mirror doesn't return to baseline after I go back into a forward gear/motion. I always have to re-adjust it. Defect/needs eval?

I hear ya,

I sure never heart about any dealers helping you to code, doubt that they would know how. They may support official retrofit factory option kits like alarm (option 302).

You'll have to find a friendly neighbourhood coder (not sure if one lives in your area, some may charge a little) or do a crash DIY course on bmw coding (one word) dot com. This thread includes the parameters to set:

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=604586

Did the research, yet have not been able to perform this on the 1M. Did anybody meanwhile get the curb monitor enabled on a 1M stripper?
