Puncture in rear. Ouch! All sorted for £336.
1870 miles in. Rear near side puncture. Ouch! £336 for a replacement from Micheldever (fitted). All sorted now.
Any idea what the actual difference is between the different Michelin PS2 tyres? There seems to be an "N0", "Porsche N2" and a "BMW" variant each with different load ratings (94, 94 and 98 respectively) and they go up in price - the XL being the most expensive. Is it a tyre bespoke to BMW. That would explain the price as it is more unique and less mass market. Punctured tyre has a nail about 1" from the outside edge. It is being sent to "Somerset" for "major repair" for £18, which is supposedly "the only place left in the country that can do that". Is it the case that garages don't now do these repairs on-site. If so it is bit of a pain because you end up having to buy a new tyre then get a repaired one back for a spare. Not as bad though as having to throw the tyre away. What is the betting that I never get a puncture in the rears again. Bound to be the front next time. Sods law. Andy |

Look on the door post fella, the sticker will tell you exactly the load / speed rating required but yes, it's a bespoke compound for the M3 / 1M.
I don't think I could trust a tyre which needed a "major repair" Are you getting it back? |

Just re-read, you're getting it back. I'd eBay it.
Any tyre place can fix a puncture surely? How "major" a puncture was it, did the tyre rip or something? Sounds strange to me. |

Yes. I am getting it back. I think the "major" is what they call it. I got the impression that "specialist" might be more descriptive, as in, they couldn't do it on site but could send it to someone who could.

Didn't use the mobility kit. It was taking about 4 days to deflate from 2.6 bar to 0. First time noticed it when the tire warning came on. Checked all tires at petrol station and found that offside rear was down to 1.2 bar. Carried on after re-inflating. Didn't use the car for four days and then the tyre was flat, so inflated and, after checking they had a tyre in stock, drove carefully to tyre place to get it checked and in the end replaced.

Had mine complimentary from dealer via MAPFRE. Would have been about £340 for three years and upto two tyres a year and a max of five replacements. But the max payout per tyre is only £300 (that was their top level of cover).
Also included for five wheel refurbs at £300 max per repair. So not a bad deal. |
