i had a R32 and the computer really limits the launch it so much easier to get moving with a manual... i believe that to be the reason..plus maybe so slow reaction from the grandpa in the EVO

Nope this is exactly how it goes down. I've been able to race a few Evo's 8, 9 and 10. The result is exactly the same as it was in the Top Gear Episode. We get our torque so early and our first gear is way to strong.

IMO the EVO X power wise is a step back for the Mitsu ... On a track its grip is sick though

I'm assuming that the 1 was also not helped on the track by having crappy runflats, but I have no idea what the OEM rubber is in Australia.

Good video.
If you get the launch right on the 135i, it WILL leave hard. The guy driving the Evo could have probably done a better job, but it still won't make up the difference at the other end of the strip. The road course stuff was about what you'd expect from the two. The Evo has an advantage without a doubt, but IMO it's not significant enough to overcome the downsides. If I were looking for a track car, I'd take an Evo IX. For a small, fast, daily driven street car, the 135i offers serious value as far as I'm concerned. |

mm very forced? the whole setup, lines, etc?
a kind of light-hearted humourous way to illustrate the differences in the cars

That's what I'm saying. Seems more staged for TV than anything. Not saying it isn't close to the actual outcome but the driving was horrendous. If you were actually going for the best lap times you wouldn't drift around the corners. And the lines around the track were questionable as well.

I have raced a few Evo's from a dig and the outcome was very much the same although it is alot closer when both cars are rev launching. I still think the Evo X is the ultimate track car though in its stock form. It must also be noted that the Evo 6 is the fastest Evo in a straight line and each model thereafter is slower in a drag race although performing better on the track.

this video is, generally speaking, right on the money.
I've raced Evo X's (both MRs and GSRs) and in a straight, the 135i will always win (much closer with the GSR though), and in the track it's the tale of two tracks: a) small, tight turn tracks, the evo's kill....b)long tracks with big straight aways, the 135i will keep up and even beat the Evo. the key is simple: you need better tires than the RFTs!!!

i just like how illustrative it was of the large role of settings this and computer that with the evo. that combined with awd is not my idea of an ultimate track car. maybe if i was racing for money.

My friend has an Evo X and on straights I kill him. However twisties our car just plain sucks(stock-lighlty modded). We swapped cars and same results. If I had to mod a car I would get the EVO(I don't consider a tune a mod). It's cheaper and is a better base to start off with. The 135 is a nice turn key package.
