tyre shops that will fix runflats

Hey guys,
well i've got another nail in one of my tyres. fourth in total now, averaging 2 a year.
anyway, getting sick of replacing these expensive tyres and am wondering if anyone knows any tyre shops willing to repair runflat tyres (the ones which aren't meant to be repaired) in melbourne??? i've tried a few shops in the past but all have said they wont...

cheers

I went on a tour of the Roslyn BMW Plant here in South Africa last week and we were told that the run flat tires CAN be repaired safely as long as there damage isnt on the side wall.

None of the tyre shops I spoke to would repair the nail I had in the sidewall and why would they, leaves them open to legal action in my opinion. i believe the manufacturer states on the tyre that it's "not for repair".

Hi markfc, nail in the sidewall is a little bit different. Regardless of the type of tyre, a nail in the sidewall will render the tyre unrepairable.
in my case, the nail is quite a distance from the sidewall and has yet to lose any pressure and hence no damage to the tyre as yet. although, i understand where the tyre shops and manufacturers are coming from, i was just wondering if anyone still practices with a little bit of common sense now a days....

Fair enough if it's not in the sidewall, maybe they are just being cautious. I guess a bit of extra turnover may be another factor for the tyre retailers also!!

I never had one person tell me not to repair them. I have no problem myself. If I had run the tyre for a while with no air then it is very different.
