What Would My Maint. Costs Be At 100k mi.?
Hello all.
I just paid off my 135 and I plan to keep it for the long haul. I test drove a bunch of 2010 BMW and MB models and I'm convinced that short of an M3 this is the car to hang onto for the next few years. So, I am wondering if extended maintenance will make sense once my warranty expires. I drive all highway miles so it isn't too unreasonable to say my car could even make it until 150k miles. What sort of maintenance can I expect to run into between the period where a BMW maintenance program would cover (2 years or 100,000 miles whichever comes first). I drive between 17 and 20,000 miles a year. 2-3 oil changes + what else? Also, would a replacement clutch down the line be covered as wear & tear? Thanks again.

From 50~100k, the covered maintenance (should you purchase the extension) will probably include:
2~3 oil Changes @$100 each a couple of microfilters & wiper blades @$100 a 60,000 mile inspection @$100 1 or 2 brake fluid changes (every 2 years) @$100 each 1 Front & Rear brake job including pads, rotors & sensors @$1,100 Since I doubt that a clutch would be covered, the total value would be about $600~$1,800, depending mainly on whether the brake job falls in the 2 year window. Unless you can get it for well under $2,000, it really seems to be more cost effective to simply put the cash away in a savings account. Tom |

Most of the E90 guys that have purchased the extended warranty got lots of use out of the warranty...
I researched this quite a bit a while back.. Good luck man Brian

If you don't know how to fix a Bimmer, then yes you are hopless and a warranty might be justified if you lack any sense in preventitive maintenance. |
