You want an unseasonably cold summer night after a hot sunny day. Track temperatures high and air cold and dense!

Let me back up Shocking330i here. My car is a bone stock 2011 135i with DCT. I ran the car with snow tires in 54 degree weather and had trouble hooking up (yes I tried launch control, DCT, All off), but despite this, the car is extremely fast for stock. It ran a best of 12.991 @ 110.29mph. This is with a crappy 2.195 60ft time. The other runs had even worse 60 ft times of 2.4 to 2.5 seconds due to wheelspin, but the car still would run 13.4 to 13.5's all day long. The DCT is that good at making up time. Best trap speed 111.83 mph. Worst trap speed 108 mph. Imagine what this car would do with drag radials and a sub 1.9 second 60 foot time. I had a 335 xi that even with a JB+ could only manage 13.17 @ 105.82 with a 1.89 60 ft time (and that was in 30 degree weather). Having owned both the N54 and N55, I like the N55 better. Also, it combined with the DCT is absoultely amazing. So either Shocking330i and myself got really good cars or these cars are very underrated from the factory. When Cobb does get the accessport ready for the N55 it will be a real beast.

Say what you will, but the car did produce those numbers. It's amazing how fast the DCT is, it makes up hundred's of seconds each shift. If you have driven a DCT car you should be able to see and feel the difference. I believe that this car will be as fast in the 1/4 mile as the new 1M. Yes, the 1M has 335 hp and 370 ft/lb overboost function, but you cannot get it with a DCT (and there is no way humanly possible that you can shift as fast as the DCT). Can't wait to see some final official numbers from the 1M to compare.

Oh, by the way, when I entered my 1/4 mile time, trap speed, and weight of car with me in it on dragtimes.com's website, it said the car was making 353hp (at the flywheel). This is in totally stock form. The N55 combined with the DCT is underrated indeed. I can see why many people don't believe the numbers, I had to do a double take at the timeslip to see it for real. Even a good friend and darn good BMW technician who will be autocrossing the same car combination as me did not believe it until I showed him the timeslips. When the car kept putting down consistent runs, it was proof that this is one quick machine.

I have to agree with GUMPY. This is one quick machine. I moded the suspension but the engine is stock. I track it once in a while and surprise a lot of ppl in advanced group how fast this car (n55 with DCT)is. When COBB AP becomes available this car will be fantastic.

Just read the new comparo between the Audi TTRS, BMW 1M, and Infinity IPL37. They attributed the phenominal acceleration time of the Audi to its DCT. The new 1M went 13.0 @ 109 in the 1/4 mile. That's about what I expected the 1M to do. It's too bad the 1M doesn't come with the DCT. Then you would see some different numbers. Now one can see why the 135i with the DCT is so fast.

I wouldn't say your times are consistent. You ran a 12.5 one time....and never replicated it..that isn't the definition of consistent....for whatever its worth I ran a 13.1 with a completely tuned N54 with tires slipping thru 1-2 gear(cannot remember the 60' time was) and with a trap of 109mph on RFT. Wonder what I would've done with sticky rubber and a good 60'.

My trap speeds were consistent. My ET's were not because of the difficulty launching with the DCT and snow tires without excessive wheelspin. The snow tires were also run-flat Bridgstone Blizzak LM 25's. And I ran a 12.991, not a 12.5. Tires make all of the difference. You would have been in the 12.4 to 12.5 range with drag radials. I am not trying to brag or anything, just trying to let people know how much potential there is in the 135i with the DCT. For some, this may be a deciding factor in purchasing the 6 speed manual or the DCT. Cheers.

^^Gotcha I misread what you wrote. Nevertheless those are some serious times for a stock engine...perhaps you have one of the "stronger" N55 engines out there?
