Personally, i even find tow hooks on cars at the track stupid. Are you seriously anticipating crashing your car today? How often do you crash? Is it really that convenient to leave it on? Not to mention, it slightly affects your aero.

On topic: Most of the time the tow hooks are for looks. Not too many people track their cars and have a need for a tow hook. It's an additional accessory that can be added to your car and customized to your liking

This may sound crazy, but even with snow tires the winters here in Toronto can be pretty bad and i have had to use my tow hook so much that i simply leave it in during the winter. However, I plan on taking it out when all this blasted snow melts.
