My God, my white 135's a dirt magnet!

Anyone else finding that their white 135 has a remarkable affinity for dirt!

I have owned many white cars in the past but NEVER a car to which dirt seems to stick, like this 135. I love the car, but hate the dirt.

The weird thing is that I had a 335 peviously in Titanium Silver and getting the dirt off just required a high speed water spray.

My white 135 though, needs a thorough brushing as the dirt seems to cling to the painwork with an almost manic determination. Grrrrrr!

Do you guys have the same problem and is their any treatment I can give the car which will make it easier for the dirt to be rinsed off rather than be brushed off to within an inch of its death?:iono:

I use a car detergent, the wife's blue ENJO glove and a chamois......about twice a year. The rest of the time I use BP Express wash! The wheels are the worst ...I've had mine 2 days and done 450km and the front rims are already black.

Sounds like it needs a good detail so you can HP the dirt off.

for the rims, go to super cheap and buy a product called armorall wheel protectant. its like a silicon spray that keeps dirt, etc off teh rims. works wonders so far

as long as you wax the car every couple months the dirt should come off very easily

OCW on the wheels works wonders at keeping the dust off the brakes.

Hey Bim135,

I agree, I thought it would be a very easy car to keep clean but for some reason it gets dirty so quickly..The wheels I can understand but it seems to stick to the paint work also..

I know ur pain, I've got a an AW hatch and it's same for me, I've cleaned my car once. Took me 2 hrs to do :eyebulge: and about 1 hr of that was cleaning the wheels. I found the back gets the dirtiest, generally after it has rained. What I've been doing is just wiping the back bit down when I get home if it's been raining and it dirt comes right off... not so easy when it's baked on though.

Also, when I was washing the car, I found some of those specs of dirt that I couldn't get off, it feels like it's on the surface, but i can't get clean ir off. They're just specs (like dots) so meh, i'm over if and can't be bothered with it.

Hatches always get more dirty at the rear as the surface air doesn't separate off the body nicely, so it causes a small low pressure area behind the car. Hence everything gets sucked up to the back panels. That's why hatches/4wds/wagons have rear window wipers/washes.

My old 316i didn't get it's window too dirty (rest would get dirty) as the rear window was quite slopped. Still had wiper. It is probably one of the little things I will miss when moving to the coupe. Especially that my car is always parked outside overnight.

Looks like I am not the only one with this problem!

Overheard some of you guys at the coffee meet last week talk about Final Inspection in Melb.

Do they have any kind of paint trreatment that would help with the dirt problem?

The solution is simple - give your car a Zaino treatment of Z5 then Z2 - followed by CS (Clear Seal). The paint will repel dirt, tar bugs etc like nothing else. It it also easy to put on. Then a wash becomes just a 10 minute job with a nice car wash gel and a microfiber mitt. It really works - JUST DO IT!!!

ps - do a search on this site - there is plenty of Zaino information.

You should clay bar your car. The finish it creates is amazing. It feels brand new again. You only need to do it once a year and then wax it...makes cleaning it very easy. Supercheap auto has a Meguiars claybar kit for 30 bucks. It's well worth doing.

Thanks for your suggestions, guys.

I've just now, heard about a product called Glassplexin offered by a number of outfits including magicseal.com.au

Apparently contains no resins, teflon or waxes as all these are temporary and soon wear off and thi glassplexin is applied only after the applicators remove the existing layer of polishes and sealants.

This stuff is guaranteed for 5 years- seems amazing.

If it works, it would beat the helll out of polishing and sealing 3- 4 times a year. Any of you guys know about it?

Cost is $495 and lasts for five years.

I am a total believe in Zaino products. Used to use it on my (now totaled) Pike's Peak White 350Z... first coat - shine is irresistible... second coat - burned my retinas... third coat - burned the Hubble's camera...
