This Saturday would be a great way to get some local folks to meet up since Detailers Domain is hosting an event.

Took it in for oil change and 2-year brake fluid flush today. Oh, and be sure to put some of those free wiper blades on for me too!

Was kind of surprised by the loaner - my choices were this or one of many 328i sedans. I just missed getting an i3, which I'm curious just to try to see how BMW does with their electric car.
It wasn't bad driving one of the last NA six cylinders with the feel of "real" steering and M Sport package (at least it wasn't a 228i!).

Guess that answers my question as I'm taking mine in next week for an oil change and thought I'd have to push hard for the 2-year brake fluid flush. Not sure how often they offer that up and volunteer that it's "due" for that or if you have to demand it since it is recommended. Sadly, I'm also getting new wiper blades too. So same services for our sibling cars, born on the same day March 2013.

e92 328 isn't bad, just feels more luxury than sport in my opinion when I drove one back in 2008 before ordering a 135.

You feel any difference after the brake fluid flush?

I didn't even have to ask for brake fluid flush. I tried to get coolant flush too, but they said that's now 100,000 miles?! I remember when it was every 3-4 years. But...I did have to ask for wiper blades. Oh, and I had the micro filter replaced too.

Good, cause I booked online for oil change and brake fluid flush and didn't want them giving me a hard time or saying I'm a few weeks from 2 years.

Who uses brakes? I usually just let the pedestrians help slow me down. O=)

New Addition

Got a 15' GLA loaded for the fiancée. It's no drivers' car, but it is comfortable. Took the opportunity to grab some photos of the is as well.

Another New Addition

Clearly it's contagious as I got my 135is a new baby brother/cousin as well. Here's the new addition to our family - a new Golf R. Certainly a trip and weird for me as I've driven coupes exclusively my whole life.

Finally the wraps are off, and the R comes out of the closet! Greg has gone back over to the dark side of VWofA.

Looks great! Even the lady and her dog were stopped dead in their tracks....

It's certainly a fun lil car to throw around. Very different feel and characteristics compared to the 135is, but at least the R gives it some similarities and secret hidden bad assedness lurking underneath. The black will certainly help with my OCD, too.

I'm like switzerland. I'm on both sides and have dual citizenship. =P

I think that lady was really pissed when she realized she might be in my shot. There's some old lady with a walker in the background of one of the first pics, too. I thought of waiting til she got out of the picture, but didn't have 20 minutes to spare. Had to get to work.

Not meant as a replacement, just as a fun new play toy and addition, plus, I needed something with a lil more room, too, but have certain performance requirements. I liked the R a lot more than the S3, pricewise, too. And I like to think of it as me saving $20k over a smurfette looking Rebel Blue Polestar S60 I almost got. O=) Would have really helped too if my damn last name didn't begin with the letter R. I'm a sucker.

I'm certainly keeping both, or at least plan to for awhile, and will probably just drive the 135is on weekends. I mean come on, I'm about to hit 11k miles on the 135is! hahaha! She turns 2 in a couple of weeks on May 3.

Yep, for the kids and needed more room for dead hookers of course. Can pile them up much higher in the back of a hatchback with the rear seats folded down. =P

The 2015 Golf R's are all DSG-only as the manual won't be available until the 2016s. Very weird and very different transmission comparing the 6-speed DSG vs the 7-speed DCT. My 2011 S5 wasn't a DSG, so is my first real experience with it. It is so silky smooth and shifts so effortlessly, I honestly never know it's even changed gears. You can't feel it. Not sure if that's good or bad, but it's VERY different and somewhat surreal. You just kinda see the tach needle jump down and that visual is the only way I know it shifted when it's in normal driving modes.

The DCT is a much sharper and more mechanical transmission if that makes sense. I think it's a lil quicker on the shifts, as well. I think I like the feel of the DCT better, especially in manual modes. i think it feels more connected than the DSG which seems a hair removed and more electronic if that makes sense. Both cars are great, but they provide very different sensory experiences.

No, I'm definitely not getting the APR tune. However, I did get a chance to drive the stage 1 tune which just came out last week I believe to the "tune" of 0-60 in 3.7s and it's insane! But I also don't want to void the warranty. So, in the same way I ultimately decided to not get the dinan tune on the 135is, while certainly fun and crazier than all hell, I don't really "need" it and so don't plan on tuning the Golf R either. Plenty fast as is and is not its intended purpose.

Car is absolutely beautiful. It's funny how we have such similar tastes. I've secretly wanted a Golf R on the side, and justify it as my wife's car but I know she still prefers something bigger (Tiguan, X3, etc.). Do you mind PM'ng me what you paid for it? I don't have any sense on what's a typical discount aside from Truecar.

On another note, I had the day off and washed the car and took her for a spin. I forget how good she looks after riding in 17's and being covered in salt and mud all winter.
