Changing trim on a new arrival

Hi All
Just stumbled across this forum yesterday - loves it.

Have a question - I've got an '05 120i manual in sparkling graphite that i'm very close to trading in on a 135i - i'm visiting the dealer this afternoon to see if we can do a deal.
Problem - the dealer has found 2 cars (almost) matching the description of the car I want, a manual black 135i with black leather & sunroof that would be available in 2-3 weeks - but they both have the standard patterned glacier aluminium trim - which i really can't stand.
The option is to order one, wait forever & get the brushed aluminium trim that I like on an otherwise identical car.

Does anyone have any experience with changing the trim - is it possible, difficult, expensive?
I like the idea of having the new baby to enjoy over summer but the standard fit trim makes my toes curl.

Any ideas/advice?

Thanks
Phil.

If you haven't haggled with the dealer yet, make it part of the package they change the trim in the workshop FOC.

It's not worth waiting for months and months for trim.

I agree with both blacky and BMW86... not worth waiting so try to make them change it for you.

Thank you.
They've already magically 'found' close to $10k from their original valuation to get me out of the current car - by giving me close to private sale as a trade in on the 120i - is it worth pushing it further?
The sales guy is the same one that sold me the 120i originally, i i wanted to keep the relationship healthy for the future & i'm worried about burning bridges - or am I being naive?

I disagree. It's not worth paying something that you aren't fully satisfied about.

Why not try, there is no harm trying.
If you don't want to upset the relationship give it a go and if it looks like it is going to be difficult don't worry about it, but remember it is your money and if the car is on it's way they always want to shift them before landing.

Hi Detlef..Welcome to the forum..

I had my trim changed from the glacier aluminium trim to the High Gloss Black Trim...looks fantastic..

Cant even tell it was done..

Mine was a dealer error from delivery..I ordered with the Black trim and came with the default Alloy glacier trim..So dealer changed at no charge..

Hah - that opens a new can of worms for me Zuzu
Perfect world I'd be getting black with coral & the high gloss black trim -only I didn't even consider it as high gloss black isn't a factory option on the 135i.
Now I'm thinking maybe I should just go ahead & get exactly what I want & change the trim once it arrives...

True..In my case as I was one of the first to get delivery, the dealer not knowing that the Black trim was not an option on the 135iM, ordered as per my order.
At the factory,BMW installed the default trim(alum glacier), as black was not a valid option.

So the dealer had to cop the swap..

But I have to tell you that the BSM/Coral/Gloss Black Trim transformed the interior to a more classier finish IMO.

I found with the Alum glacier, there was just tooooo many colour combinations in the cabin..

Holy black BMW's.
It is done.
2-3 weeks till delivery & they will change the trim for me at a later date.
I joked that they won't want me to come back again next time - the lack of joviality from my salesperson suggests I might be closer to the mark than just a joke.

Little bit excited. Like a lot!

Minor (ahem) update - have been speaking to the dealer this morning & I will be taking delivery tomorrow afternoon!

Pants off Friday is starting early in my household this week

Config is confirmed as:

Manual 135i Coupe
Sapphire Black Metallic
Black Leather
Sunroof
Front Parking Sensors
Trim to be determined

Saw the upcoming drive day too which sounds pretty cool.
I accompanied my partner a few weeks ago to a similar thing for their car & really enjoyed the day & the people were great.
Too short notice to make this one sadly - but will be be watching out for future days.
