Sorry but im new to this!

Will 255/40/18 snow tires fit the stock 18" wheels??? I am trying to learn how this works but am a little confused. Thanks

255/40/18? Are you sure you don't mean 225? Those would be huge tires that almost certainly wouldn't fit the front wheels or clear the front wheelwells.

oh sorry, your right... I meant 225 front and 255 rear. Thats what this guy is saying that he is selling off his 1er???

Thanks Guys! So the first number is thickness of tire. Second is width and third is size. got it now... I feel like an idiot, but everyone learns somewhere right?

for a 225/45 r17 tire:

225 = tread width in millimeter (divide by 25.4 to get inches)

45 = actually a % corresponding to the sidewall height divided by the tread width (for the 225/45 it means the sidewall is 101 millimeters from the edge if the wheel to the tread of the tire)

17 = wheel radius in inches.

Just to clarify the second number is relative to the Thickness (width of track) of the tire. It's a percentage, for example:

255/40/18 would mean 255 is the width of the tire, 40 means the sidewall height is 40 % of the first number (255) and the third number is the diameter of tire (18).
