Also... the camo 3er with the 70 KPH decall on the trunk lid... is a hybrid electric 3er(I think?). It did not make any noise as it drove past me. Plus the driver looked really pissed at me - as I shot those pics of him! lol The first (light blue car) and last pics(tree in middle of car!) is the new 1er (F20). It really does look like a BIG VW Polo, in a good way. lol This weekend one of the German TV channels (KabelEins) showed the new 1er in detail. It really looks a lot better in video then in still photos. Dackel |

Its a decall that is letting you know THAT vehilce can only travel that fast (legally). For trucks (LKW's) their speed limit is 80kph on all autobahns. Some of the trucks will drive 100 or 110. But legally they are limited to 80 kph. Every truck (& bus) has a data recorder - that plots out speed and time on a round disc. The latest trucks have to have a digital data log that records the info onto a SD card - for the Polizei to "check". All trucks in Germany are also limited to 500 PS engines. In Germany ALL trucks can only drive 80 kph on the Autobahns. buses can drive 100 kph. Buses have to have a saftey inspection (TUV)every three months! No kiddiing. Each driver can only drive eight hours in one day. Trucks can not drive from Saturday 10pm until Sunday at 10pm - it is forbidden. Unless they have special papers and are transporting goods that will expire. The reason you saw two decals on the backs of trucks or buses - they will have one that will say 80 kph and one that says say 100 kph. The 100 kph is for driving on the back raods - Bundesstrasse. For those roads a LKW can drive 100 kph (I think). Also... trucks (LKW's) will have two green round decals/signs on the front of the truck. Normally a "S" or a "G". The "S" is for low noise requirements that that truck meets. The "G" is for low emissions - I think. Or maybe I have that backwards. ? There are also special Plozei that control these trucks - that say: "BAG" on the cars/vans. They look like Polizei but are only for trucks and buses - to check them that they are safe. As for the speed limit decals... sometimes in teh cities you will see an very old car... or electric car or trike... with a 20kph sign... that also means the vehicle can only drive that fast... but it also means (the 20 kph one!) that THAT driver has no drivers license! You don't need one for cars that are limited to only 20kph. And those cars are forbiden to drive on the autobahns bc vehicles need to drive atleast 60 kph (min!) on the Autobahns - believe it or not. Awesome pics Dackel!
I wish I could move to Germany, I had an interview last year for a position in Vogtareuth Schon Klinik by Rosenheim. I took a job here in my home state of Florida instead to be closer to my family, but I regret it all the time (I am happy with my job, just wanted to live overseas at one point in my life for a year or two!) I love seeing pics of these cars and the cities in Germany, makes me miss it! I visit every year (my mother was born and raised in Germany so I I have tons of family there) Also, that mineral white metallic is an AWESOME color! |

Werkstestwagen vs Werkstestwagen...
The grey 135i isn't really a Werkstestwagen... he just put the decal there as a joke. The silver F20 (118d) was a test car though.
