Grease where trunk meets rear bumper?

What is this crap? Like my car is sharting!!! Do any of you have this problem. This is my 2nd 135i and before that I had an e90 m3 and all of my BMW cars have this issue. It's like a little grease stain that seems to be coming from the trunk and dripping onto the rear bumper. I thought maybe it was a fluke but this is my 3rd BMW and it is still happening.

9 years with E8/9x cars and never noticed any of the things you describe. Send pics.

Sounds like cosmoline/wax leaking out from inside the trunk. Fairly common. It's not hard to clean off.

yeah, my car did that last year when it was parked for a few hours in the hot sun. If you open the trunk, you'll see a small hole there, and that's where its coming from. I assume it was sprayed to prevent corrosion, and am actually wondering how to put it back if that makes any sense, so that the metal inside is protected.

I can't believe some of you have never had this and here I am going 3 for 3 on my cars. I left it so long on my last car it looked like old bubble gum on my bumper! I wiped it off already otherwise I'd take a pic.

I think it is because when I visit my mother in the San Fernando Valley in California my car is parked where the back is always facing the Sun. It must be melting it and slowly leaking out.

Usually I see the cosmo trail at the base of the front of the doors... at about eight inches from the seam where the doors meet the fender.

You can see it a bit in this pic. Just forward of the door seam.

^yeah that's kind of what I got kind of just like a grease stain leaking. I've never had it on my doors I've only ever had it on my trunk. Glad it's nothing to worry about.

I've never seen it either, but the 2 BMWs that I've had are/were rarely parked out in the sun for any length of time.

Totally normal in any car that's been around a few years...just clean it up. In some colours it's less noticeable some more...
