what to do with dealership credit
hey folks,
I've mentioned this in a different thread, but I decided to get more input. I've got about $800 credit at my dealership due to some issues they're trying to correct. So if you know it's got to be an OEM accessory, what would you go for? It's a 2013 135i m-sport. I was thinking of using it towards the PPKv1. I had been considering getting a jb4 or cobb, but I'm not that serious about aftermarket mods and I think the ppkv1 would satisfy that itch (especially since I can get that for free, in lieu of spending money on one of the aftermarket versions; I get that the OEM unit is much more limited, but I'm not convinced I would really utilize the difference). Another option would be the ppkv2, but I would have to shell out the difference (and I dunno if that's $1000 well spent for just a better fan and an auxiliary radiator). I do not want a louder exhaust, as I park below my toddler children at the house, and waking them up early on my way to work would not end well for me. So performance exhaust has mostly been ruled out. I've also considered a few cosmetic alterations, but nothing really appeals to me (except maybe having them paint my wheels black). The car is le mans blue. What else am I neglecting? What would be a great OEM add on in this general price range? |

Did you check out the performance side skirts or the carbon fiber performance spoiler? Maybe just save the credit and use it in the future for tires, walnut blasting or having them detail the car.

There are a few dealers out there who will discount OEM accessories 10-20%. Chances are, if you use the credit for accessories at your dealer, you will pay list price. I'd probably save the credit for service work.

As discussed prior, I would say either PPK, probably v1 if no PE, or a set of michelin pilot super sports. The ride quality, noise, grip, and every driving characteristic will be greatly improved with those tires over the stock runflats.
Other OEM cosmetic things you might want to consider as vertebra said are the CF spoiler that a lot of people like, or you might want to check out the CF side mirrors, or perhaps both. You could also have them pay to get your windows tinted if they aren't already. Or any combo of the above. Hope you've at least been able to enjoy the car after the last ordeal. |

If you go the PPK route, shell out the extra bucks for the V2. Worth it for all the extra cooling hardware, especially if you plan on adding an aftermarket tune later on. If you try to add all the cooling stuff later, I could easily see it costing more than $1000 in parts. It is rediculous what all is included.

BMW performance suspension, parts only. Pay difference and install yourself. If you don't want out of pocket expenses, go for the mods that have the biggest effect whether it be visual or performance. For me that would be cf trunk lip, aero sides (painted and installed), performance exhaust, or ppk v1 (if you can resist the urge of wanting more hp/tq).
If you choose something below $800, make up the difference with small accessories like mats, splash guards, trunk mat, ebrake, shift knob, pedal covers, etc. |

Beautiful piece but suede doesn't do well over time.

well it's not real suede....it's that italian synthetic suede known as 'alcantara'...but you're right, it does require some maintenance for sure!
although in my last car (the A3), i had alcantara seats and they were super super easy to maintain. just a damp cloth was enough to wipe them off with. |

If you are going for PPK then definitely get the V2. The extras will be the only thing making a difference once you install COBB/JB4.
Else spend the money elsewhere. The Steering wheel is a great idea. |

If it's 6mt maybe the short shift kit? I like the way it looks with matching ebrake boot and handle.

Here you go... http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...75#post9353275 The Perf SSK is a nice way to go. I ordered the parts by themselves since I did not want to change my shift knob nor the leather boot. Its also cheaper that way - when you order each SSK part ala kart. Shifter throws N54 (stock) 80mm's N54 SSK 55mm's N55 & 1M (stock) 70mm's Since your car is a N55... you only need the shifter lever AND a new bushing/bearing and new washers and C-clips. Should be like ~$150 total in parts. I would say to go with the PPK1 - just the SW. You really have to push the car hard on the street to go into limp mode. And installing all the extra hardware of the PPK2 is a two day job at the dealer. With BMW's PPK tune it will make your car more fun to drive and I think you will really like the slightly louder exhaust pops and gurgles that it adds.

I've settled on the PPKv1. Looking to get it installed late next week.
I'm definitely still interested in the short shift kit. I feel the stock shifter is pretty notchy, but I may need to do the CDV changeout first. |
