CLS E82 CF Trunk

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in getting a carbon CLS style trunk for their E82. I am working with Duke Dynamics out of Canada to have a series of them custom made. They would run in the 800's and look like the photo included. They would be a carbon outer shell with FRP internals with mounting points that match all OEM. They use a 3D mapping technique to guarentee direct fitment. PM if interested. You can look at their other work at dukedynamics.com.

They have had this on their website for at least a year and a half, advertised as "coming soon".
When I contacted them last year in May they said it would be released to the market by the 3rd week of June with FRP, single sided and double sided CF options. 9 months later and still nothing. I wouldn't hold my breath

I contacted them this week. I am basically funding their development costs in making this, they quoted me 2400 for a single trunk as it is the cost of scanning a stock trunk, creating a CSL trunk lid mold, and creating the trunk with a carbon fiber finish. It would take close to almost two months for them to be completed. They probably didn't make it because its a bit of a niche market. The cost for a batch of FRP trunks would of been 799 with the carbon piece being a bit more for a carbon skin and FRP mounting points. Thats the only way they are willing to make it. I can email them monday for what the production of 4-5 trunks would cost but they will be made as they are ordered.

Agreed. We've been asking for these for a couple years now.

I dont understand why you're going through all of this when the trunk already exists...

I saw the quality of their work and really liked their stuff. But since this already exists I can ask about the carbon side skirts instead if there is more of an interest in that then the trunk? Let me know I guess. The trunks would of come out to 1299 a piece anyways which is more then most would be willing to pay for for single sided carbon trunks.

Absolutely more interest in the carbon fiber skirts. Make something that looks good and half the forum would have interest. Something cast as the standard side skirt with a carbon fiber lip would be awesome

So are we talking a set of side skirts in carbon along the lines of the F30 BMW performance side skirts? Picture is attached. And I am in no way attached or paid by Duke Dynamics, I'm just a car guy who really enjoys looking and making nice looking cars. The whole BMW side is new to me as I just bought a 128 for a daily driver and am trying to spruce it up a bit. I'm a NA guy who has no need for anything ridiculously fast or sporty as I am already outfitting a S2000 for track use. Let me know I guess by tomorrow so i can present the idea to the guys at Duke.

Something like this...

Subtle, at the bottom of the side skirt, that looks like it came from the factory that way.

Honestly all these vendors need to stop making Trunks, spoilers, lips and get to those sides already. Why keep making the same type of stuff when everyone wants sides.
