M3 to S4 to 135is!
and lovin it
some observations: - Funner to drive than the S4 for sure - Surprisingly spacious for such a 'small' car - Don't miss the 14mpg on the M3 - that exhaust note... This car was worth all the searching, waiting, and reading articles like these http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...ed-test-review, searching, and waiting... I don't plan to change anything on this car..well maybe window tint Introducing number 489 of 586! The S4 (B8 2012 S-tronic) The M3 (E90 2008 + LCI trunk and lights 6MT) Last edited by grnbean; 03-11-2015 at 02:42 AM.. |

Nice!!! Congratulations and welcome! Nice color combo. Post more details of the purchase (price, miles, etc.) and further observations/comparisons on the driving experience compared to your other cars. Thanks to its driving dynamics, low-end torque, and exhaust note, my 135is is the best daily driver I've ever owned, hands down. I'm sure you will have the same experience!

Car only has ~11k miles and loaded with boston coral leather, technology, premium, HK, PDC, auto high beams and more...i think pretty much everything(?)
It's such a fast and quirky car with great handling. The S4 was definitely an awesome car that had a good balance of luxury, speed and looks. I'm not sure if it was the S-tronic/DSG transmission but I didn't really have that much fun driving it. It did get decent MPG though. Driving the 135is gave me a lot of flashbacks of driving E90. I absolutely loved the M3 and it was one of the best cars I had every driven. However, revving it up to such high rpms to get the power wasn't ideal for a daily. Never got a chance to drive it at the track so I guess I never realized the full potential of that car. After having boston leather in this car and nappa leather in the S4 as well as the M3, I am not a fan, I much prefer the boston leather. the nappa leather did not age well no matter how much care I put into it. Interior wise, I miss having a rear view camera though.. It's only been 2 days now so I need to drive it some more and I can report back |

I struggled mightily with the tire sizes and even though everyone says 225/255 fits fine with no rubbing, etc., I couldn't handle the risk and stuck with stock sizes, though I do regret it at times. I almost went 225/245 like you too, in part cause the shop accidentally ordered 225s instead of 215s, which apparently are a weird/unusual size. So much nicer without the runflats. |

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes if you go to the 'spec' tab it says Mercedes fitment. I looked up some 2014 SLK 350s online and they come with these exact tires and sizes. |

So OP just curious what about the 135 you like that much more than the S4? I ask because I love the S4's in general and have considered getting rid of the 135 for a B8 in white in fact. Does it feel any faster or "livelier"?

I don't consider myself a great driver and I would say the differences I feel and felt are mostly visceral. This isn't my only car (wife drive's a 2014 MDX) so I suppose if you are looking for a good all around car thats both quick and nice looking the S4 will fit the bill. Just be careful about the S-tronic transmission as many of the older owners are reporting mechatronics failure. I didn't want to own the car long enough to find that out for myself. Anyways, tinted the car today! 55%front two 20% back three |

As one who owns 2 BMWs and 2 Audis (none of them really new) I can see both sides of the argument. Living in the snow belt however tips the scale to Audi for its Quattro. Once drove an A4 and S4 back to back and didn't feel the S4 was worth the extra money. The A3 with 220hp would interest me if I were wealthier but I'll stick with my 128 (230hp) for a long time. Another BMW advantage is all the good "club" activity AND all the fabulous DIY's available [Bav Auto, Pelican, etc] and soon I plan on installing a Koni suspension on my 128.
