N54 and N54T difference?

What is the difference between the N54 and N54T engine? Or in case i have misunderstood something, the difference between 135i and 1M engine.

Is it only an ECU difference, or is it more substantial?

Yeah I would think it has all of the cooling from the PPK2, at the minimum.

They are different parts per realoem. As far as better flowing I think one of the tuners was quoted as saying that once upon a time.

The N54T in the Z4 35is and the N54T in the 1M are not entirely the same. The N54T in the Z4 is just a N54 but with different ECU software (higher hp + overboost). The N54T in the 1M uses yet another type of software, for instance it has an M-button-activated map available. In the Z4 you "just" get the dynamic driving switch which changes the throttle response but not the engine response. You need to install tuning software to get the M-button-like throttle response, but then it becomes "sensitive" all of the time, because there is no button to deactivate it.

Finally the 1M has an extra water aux cooler as well as race cats instead of regular cats installed in the down-pipes. I believe it was mentioned in the 1M brochure as well.

The z4 is WAY different

Saw a 1m, 135i and z4 35i and 335i side by side

Z4 has accessories mounted completely differently, different hard piping etc
