Everyone is down. The following link shows compared to last year, MBZ, Audi and MBW all down in total car sales (excluding vans, SUVs and pickups). For Luxurary Brands, BMW is down by -25.6%, Audi -28.6%, MBZ -40.1%, Porsche -29.2%. For other more affordable brands, Toyota -42.8%, Hyundai -23.4%, VW -20.9%, Honda -49.5%, Nissan -39.8%, Ford -25.5%.

To break down the different categories for cars: Midsize down -30.1%, Small-50.3%, Luxury -31.8%, Large - 20.2%

Given the gloomy numbers, the 1 series is actually up ~4% from last year so it is actually not too doing too bad.

Nothing is normal in this economy. I don't think BMW will go by the way of Government Motors or Chrysler anytime soon. They don't have a criminal Union system like we do...
